The best buck I have seen this year is a 25" 3x3 in the 130 class, so I try and take a pic of the ones I'm not interested in taking

Thanks for all these great post(s). As a new deer hunter and archer I really appreciate it. I love that recurve you have in the picture next to the scrape above. What type of bow is it and how do you have it setup?

Thanks again

King, on that last buck did he shot that with a bow?
Paul, I shoot a Habu recurve @55lbs 500 grain arrow with eather a grizzly or delta 2 blade [ I like 2 holes, in and out ] Chris cox out of Idaho makes it and it's a great shooter.

bowhuntr, Yes it was with a bow, smoker is'ent it. keep going you'll score

I have hunted the last 13 out of 16 days [ I know, I got a problem, I'm an addict ] I have seen lots of small stuff this year and the big boys have all slipped away so far.

Here's the best that I've seen so far,

On the 4Th of Oct. I saw a 4x4 115" class and a 25" wide 3x3 130" class.
I saw the 4x4 about an hour after first light and moved over to him and he put the slip on me, about 9:30 I see this smoker 3x3 come running down this ridge I'm gassing, but I don't get a good look at him, but I could tell he was big.

I hunt all day and around 4:30 I glass the 4x4 I saw in the morning with a doe and 2 yearlings, he's bedded but is keeping his eye on them and wont let them get to far, so I put a stock on them and he vanishes I cant find him any where, so I move to the west and start glassing again, I see a few little 2x2 and 3x2s nothing I want.

All of a sudden I hear the brush below me braking and I stand up with an arrow nocked, I see antler tips moving from my left to my right, It's the BIG 3x3 and right behind him is the 4x4 ears laid back and all puffed up @ 20yds, all I can see is there antlers and some of there body as they move through the brush, I come to full draw about 5 times ready to take a shot but it's to steep and to brushy and they walk out of my life and I have yet to see them again.

As they move around to the other side that's when I get a real good look at the 3x3 WOW!!! a vary nice buck [ I know it sounds like a fish story, the one that got away].

On the 10Th I saw a 4x? ya 4x? He had 4 tines on his left side like a whitetail all coming off of the main beam, I never got a look at his other side but the side I did see was about 125" class.

On the 12Th I saw a vary big 4x3 he was in the 125-130 class, I missed a shot at around 30yds as he was moving through a window moving up hill, I shot low and behind him.

On the 17Th I saw a nice 3x3 heavy with eyegards about 115" class, I moved over to where he was at and by the time I got there he was gone.

Today all I saw was a spike.

That is awsome!!!!!!! Great shooting, I hope that one day I will have a photo alblum that looks like that.

The tag coments were a little below the belt. Instead of trying to cut him down why dont you do something worth while and try and top him.

Bowhuntr, Same here it's been a tough year so far, I though the rut was going to kick into gear and this heat came and I think most of the rut was nocturnal, so I will just stay the course and see what I can put together.

Tough hunting for me this year, I found some big bucks early and then it just terned off like a light switch.

I was guilty of over hunting a few areas this year, I found some bucks that I really wanted and hunted it to hard and they moved out on me, I know better but did it any way, I justified my ignorance my saying well if they do come back I'll be there.

I glass a doe at around 250 yds no bucks with her, I keep glassing for about an hour, I look back at her and their is a buck with her now, he starts to tear up some brush and she doesn't look vary interested in him and he starts to look around for some where to go.

I start to rake some brush, he doesn't hear it so I really start to crank on some brush and he hears it and starts to come my way.

Now I have to hide be for he gets here, I back up under a small oak and clear a small circle so I can move and get down on my knees.

I keep my I eye on him from time to time and he's coming on a string on the same trail I'm on, 60, 40, 30yds, he's still coming and I start to plan my shot, I drop to my knees and pick a window for a shot he's coming at a vary Strong quartering at me angle.

20,15,10, 5yds, he's totally caught flat footed as the string from my recurve slips from my fingers, every thing turns to like a strobe light in slow motion, I can see the arrow streaking at him, he has no clue I'm there.

Crack!!!! as the 550gr.arrow and grizzly 2 blade plows into his left front shoulder, he comes to life whirling to his right like a cutting horse, he runs about 10 yds and jumps off a cliff and sails out 30yds through the air 40 feet down the mountain.

I cant believe what just happened, 5yd shot at a buck on the ground and then he sails through the air, WOW!!! I LOVE BOWHUNTING
