Well, I think I would have walked less if I went on a Texas hunt and I took off on foot from my front door. So....story quality is going to suffer on this one as I am plum tuckered out. Thanks for the comments.

We went hunting and caught a hog. 3-1/2" long side---3-1/4 short side. The pup did good.

A friend of mine used to run catchdogs. And he got a call from his vet about a pit that someone had brought in to have put down. After a couple days of observation the vet called my buddy. Said he had know idea what the people that had brought her in were talking about. Well he broght the dog home and that weekend took her on her first hunt with the pack. It wasn't long before Gina was the Alpha Female and would one day save my friend's life. The pack was fighting a boar up in the brush covered hills of Parkfield. While climbing up the mountain, bulldogs started flying out of the brush. And when I say flying, I don't mean running with their tails tucked. I mean AIRBORNE, over his head. With a few dogs still fighting in the brush, he had almost made his way up along side the hog. The plan as usual was to walk up and end it with a well placed shot from a 44 mag. Well this time the boar had other plans. He got a glimps of my friend and made a beeline straight for him... dogs locked on and all. Well now you have a problem. You have 250 pounds of pissed off boar dragging 3 pissed off bulldogs headed right for you. Now you can try and take a shot with that 44, but you run the risk of hitting one of your dogs. Well that pigs knocked him down and the gun from his hand as his head struck a rock. And did the boar keep running? Nope, he wanted to get some more. Is was only a matter of seconds before that boar was right in the middle of my friend. He has shaken two of the dogs by ripping them open with his 3 1/2 inch tusks. The only dog left was Gina, the dog that someone else wanted to throw out like yesterday's trash. This 60 pound pit was able to pull the hog off of my friend long enough for him to scramble to the pistol. He shot the hog in the head and fight was over. If it had not been for Gina, the dog that had been given a second lease on life... my friend might not be here today. He still carries the scars on his legs and face from that day... but it was at that moment he was given a second chance by someone he had given a second one too. While I hope something like this never happens to you, know that this pup knows what you have done for her. She will be a loyal companion and do you proud.
