NATIONAL WILD TURKEY FEDERATION HABITAT PRINT WILL HELP VERMONT'S WILDLIFE HABITAT

WATERBURY, VT -- Wildlife enthusiasts will soon be able to own a beautiful piece of wildlife artwork and, at the same time, help conserve important wildlife habitat.

The Vermont Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) will begin selling 5,000 signed and numbered limited edition prints in September, as part of "Vermont 1st of State National Wild Turkey Federation Habitat Print" project. The original painting is by award winning artist Jeffrey Klinefelter who captured first place among 43 other artist in the Vermont NWTF art competition held in April 2004.

The Vermont NWTF Habitat Committee, partnering with the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department (VFWD), will use the profits from the sale of this print to purchase, protect and improve habitat for wild turkeys and other Vermont wildlife.

"The Vermont State Chapter of NWTF is committed to the conservation of Vermont's wildlife heritage and its habitat for the people of the state," said Doug Blodgett, VFWD biologist and the department's wild turkey project leader.
"Securing quality wildlife habitat with the proceeds from this print program will demonstrate this commitment and provide a lasting conservation legacy for generations of Vermonters."

This project has generated widespread support.

"The State Chapter of NWTF has received financial contributions and support from Governor Jim Douglas, Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department, Vermont Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, Vermont Bear Hound Association, and Vermont Trappers' Association," stated Dr. Michael Tveraas, VT NWTF Habitat Chairman. "Outdoor industry giants also offered their support, including Mark and Terry Drury of Drury Outdoors, David Hale and Harold Knight of Knight and Hale Game Calls, and Dick and Chris Kirby of Quaker Boy. We are thrilled so many believe this is a worthwhile project."

The image of the tom turkey and two hens measures 7-1/2 by 11 inches. Prints are available for $100.00 plus $10.00 shipping, handling and insurance. Send your name and address with payment to: Vermont NWTF Habitat Print, 131 Pearl Street, Essex Jct., VT 05452.
