I must just be lucky, but I LOVE Turners. My very first shotgun was bought there. I paid $169.00 for a Remington Express and they gave me a beautiful WINGMASTER. Being young & honest, I pointed out the mistake to the "knowledgable" salesman, and he said "nope, that's the right gun". About two years ago I went in to just check things out. My oh my, Federal Premium in .280 Remington marked at $8.99 a box (regularly $18.99). Why thank you "knowledgable" salesman, I'll take all ten boxes. I usually know more about the gun I want to buy than the sales-slacker. I do have to agree with JBarn3, the Norwalk store has been the most helpfull out of the four I've been to. Maybe I'll stop by & see what's for sale.

I have been going into Turners when it was Andrews in Long Beach old Bill had a store down there that looked like someone was trying to put 10lb of crap in a 5lb bag, I bought my first real shotgun from him a 870 3" for $109.00 out the door, I have bought maybe 20 guns from them over the years, but won't except service like that, and like I said I won't buy another gun from them, well unless it's another give away type like the Ruger 77 I got for $299 in March then i'll put up with there crap, the WC store is on the bottom of my list, I only go there usually to buy there end of year close outs on Steel shells, and lic. tags stamps so on.

Socal hunter I have talked to Mike a number of times about duckhunting and he does seem like a nice enought guy, but as long as the targets are on the ceiling and that same idiot is there i'll drive to another store or better yet buy from someone else the problem is there are not many gun shops left in the SGV, i'm going back in there just to get his name.

PLEASE!!!!!! DON'T BUY A TIKKA!!!!!!!!!!

I do like how the gun shoots, my Whitetail Hunter is in 300 win mag and is a tack driver. Godforbid, you have a problem with the gun, they will not back it up. I was walking on a dirt road and the forearm stud fell out and the shoulder slung gun fell back and broke. The stock broke in half right behind the action. Upon further investigation I found that the stud pulled straight out, it didn't unscrew. Even more, the exposed wood at the break was discolored about a half inch down, indicating it was pre-cracked. The gun was a couple years old and taken on about 10 hunts. It had some surface scratches in the stock, at which the Turner's employee told me that it looked like it had been abused. Excuse me, but I HUNT. I hike, climb, do what I have to do. Tikka, which is handled by Beretta, would not lift a finger of help. Turner's wasn't much better, but at least they got me the only stock you can get for it at costs($260.00). They told me that none of there guns have ever done that. No, kidding!!!! Neither have mine, and some date back to 1890. Good gun, pricey parts, and extremely bad customer service. I wouldn't wish a Tikka on my worst enemy.

You ever been to a Bass Pro Shop? I go to the original store in Springfield at least once a year and I've been to the Nashville store. I think they hire the nice rejects from the local Walmart. They are very nice overworked people with zero knowledge on firearms, ammo, and optics. Kinda like asking a question of a Walmart emplyee, if you can find one!

Never been to a Cabela's. I hope they're better.

I prefer to do my research on the internet, then find a place where I can handle the product. This way I minimize my exposure to reluctant/rude/uninformed employees. Then I find the best price and buy from them, sometimes it's BPS or Cabela's. I try to buy over the internet, but if I have to do it in person, I'm in and out with a minimum of aggravation.

Gosh, I thought it was just me. Most gun dealer "sales slackers" treat me like a weekend warier!
I think the cashier's at turners are the WORST!!!
I have been treated better by french waiters!!! (don't want to get started on the #$%^&*@ french)

I think most of the gun sales people at the Orange Turners are pretty decent folks
. I guess you have to get to know them.

As far as Fowlers, I get great service with one of the sales persons (Spanish guy w/ glasses @ the Orange store).

It seems as though the Turner's stores have different personalities. I've never had a problem at the Norwalk store, and everyone has been nice and somewhat knowledgeable. The Signal Hill store has always been a bit of a pain to get anyone to help you at the gun counter, and then when they do, they are either borderline surly or incompetent. The Turner's that was on Beach Boulevard (Westminster? Stanton?) was a good one - a lot of the guys there seemed to be into the SASS thing, with lots of cowboy guns there.

Sorry - but I just couldn't resist the Tikka Whitetail Hunter synthetic at $399 in .338. Again, they guys at Norwalk were nice and we talked about various elk hunting trips while I filled out the paperwork. My brother is a gunsmith at Bolsa, and they are a factory service center for Beretta, Sako, Tikka, Remington etc. so if I have any problems, he can fix them for me. Good thing I didn't abuse him TOO much when he was a little brat.

Rick,

Looks like you did it right with the synthetic. Thats what they're putting on mine. I don't want to have to ever deal with Tikka/Sako again. It's a great shooter like I said. They just don't back their product.

Bill Ortiz tried, and tried to deal with them for me, but they wouldn't budge. In my experience with him he was very helpful and sincerely concerned with doing good by me. Like I said, Turner's is replacing it at no profit on top of paying for shipping. I did my homework through a dealer and that surprisingly was the actual dealer cost. I do believe it is a store thing. The Fountain Valley store has been good to me for over 7 years. They have some yahoos in there, but no more than anyone else.

My other brother had a Sako .375 H&H that had problems with the wooden stock. This goes back 10 years or so, though. The stock split right at the rear tang. They never did anything for him, either. He had to buy a synthetic stock, too.

That's good that Turners was trying to help you all the way and they really showed some good customer service by offering it to you at their cost. I don't know if I am the only one, but I have always been taken care of at Turners and I am pretty happy shopping there and I have done it for the past 14 years.

While I did have a customer service incident at a Turner's a few years ago I will say that they have been extremely helpfull and accomodating to the predator hunting club I belong to. After getting pushed out of a couple of meeting places we contacted Turner's and they have let us use their Fountain Valley store's side room for our monthly meetings for well over a year. The management and employees there have even been tolerant when we have calling demonstrations that rattle the windows :surprised-purple:

I heard the same exact thing yesterday while I was getting some ammo on sale and they already spoke with the person that helped "huntduks", but the person said that he didn't remove the bolt (apparently, he doesn't even know how to do this), he said that he handed the rifle with the bolt "opened" which is pretty much normal practice every where that I have been before and to tell you truth, in the past 14 years that I have been shopping at Turners and at this particular location (the old store and the new one), nobody has ever "removed" a bolt on me.
The bottom line here is that it looks like they are going to make this for the better, to provide us the customers with a better service.

I haven't used them, nor the other 2 web sites that I know for this purpose (gunbroker and auctionarms) but I know people who has and they have not had any problems, I think Qbn Hunter from the forum has bought from guns from one of this sites. The only recomendation that I would make to you is check them out throughly, give them a call and speak to them, it helps even better if the seller is a FFL licensee, so do your homework and you should be OK. Good luck!

There's a gentleman that I always go to at Turners. He seems like the most knowledgeable of the staff. He's a retired fellow and works there to pass the time. 1SoCal knows who I am talking about.
I have gotten a gun from gunsbroker.com. I would recommend on getting an insurance that they offer. It gives you some time to look over the gun when you get it before the sale is final.

The local gun store here has done some business on guns america and has had some good transactions and been screwed selling high end stuff on their . The example that comes to mind is he sold a high end double rifle to guy and he said he did not like it and sent it back with a differnt stock.

I just put money down on a Ruger .17 HMR at the Reseda Turners. No problems there, but I knew exactly what I wanted and they have to bring the rifle in from another store. I was also lucky enough to run into an old friend of mine who now works there (Dennis), so he will be the one I deal with whenever possible.

My experience at the Southbay Turners a week ago for the same gun was horrible (reason I went to Reseda). They were not helpful and did not want to check to see if the gun was in any other stores. Also tried to push the dinged-up floor model on my by saying that those pencil eraser sized dings were nothing and that only a few people have dry-fired it (rimfire, duh)... :rolleyes-green:

I guess it depends on who you get and when you get them.
