Lawsuit: The United Anglers of Southern California and the Sportfishing Association of California are expected to join in with the Ventura County Commercial Fishermen's Association and the Recreational Fishing Alliance's Southern California Chapter in a lawsuit to oppose the recent closure of key fishing grounds at the Channel Islands. Ilson New, the attorney representing all of the organizations, is said to be one of the most experienced and effective attorneys on California fisheries regulatory law. New also was present during many of the Fish and Game Commission hearings and heard key testimony about the Channel Islands Marine Reserve. Bob Osborn of the United Anglers of Southern California said the groups are trying to get a temporary injunction to keep the waters open to fishing until the matter is settled in court.
