So Steve and I went out last night for our usual hunt, and about 40 minutes before dark we spotted this guy. Steve had seen him a couple of days before but could not positively ID him as a boar so let him pass. We had to hustle down to him and as we were headed up the draw he was last seen in I spotted him coming out of a brush patch about 150 yards away. We set up right there and put the binos on him. It took a few minutes, but we finally decided it was a boar and Steve let him have it with his Model 70 in .300 wsm with a Barnes 165 gr. TSX handload (mine). At the sound of the bullet's impact he took off running right at us! I forgot to mention I didn't bring a gun. As it turned out it was unnecessary: he went about twenty yards and piled up dead. (Hey Lt Dan: this hog was only 100 yards down from where you shot yours in the same draw last spring) He gutted out at 141 lbs. and cleaned up nice.

I would include photos but haven't figured it out yet.

Rack one up for you guys and Barnes TSX. If you can handload, you can figure out how to post the pictures. Easiest way is to simply put a copy of the picture as a jpg or other file on your desktop and then hit the "insert image" from the list of little figures just above - it is the third from the right. That will open up pop up, choose "from your computer" (if that tab doesn't open automatically) and then hit select files. You can brouse your computer and select the file and load it from there. It sound long but it only takes less than a minute. One trick is to be sure the picture is not too big - if it is too big, just resize it and save it (as another name so you don't lose your good picture). I just did it with the little picture below so I know it works. So lets see this hog

Dang it! Leave that spot alone, LOL!

I was just thinking yesterday about e-mailing you for a hog report, thinking about heading up over presidents day. I guess I got my report!

Was he alone?

By the way, attach photos by going advanced- then manage attachements-drag photos from the top to the bottom, hit insert. Here's chuck talking his hog into surrendering.

Sorry; it isn't working. I've tried every possible way I can to do this and I just get an error message (#2038). I'll email it to Lt Dann and see if he'll have better luck.

Here they are, although I'm not sure about the 2nd one?

The second shot is showing the performance of a 165 gr. TSX through the heart. He still ran 30-40 yards and his heart and lungs are goo. Good shooting on Steve's part!

It was a good shot. Where'd you take the hero shot, out by the club?

Yup. All we had were cell phone shots and we wanted something with a bit more clarity. Steve might go for having the hams cured like I did a couple of weeks ago. We'll see!
