So Steve and I went out last night for our usual hunt, and about 40 minutes before dark we spotted this guy. Steve had seen him a couple of days before but could not positively ID him as a boar so let him pass. We had to hustle down to him and as we were headed up the draw he was last seen in I spotted him coming out of a brush patch about 150 yards away. We set up right there and put the binos on him. It took a few minutes, but we finally decided it was a boar and Steve let him have it with his Model 70 in .300 wsm with a Barnes 165 gr. TSX handload (mine). At the sound of the bullet's impact he took off running right at us! I forgot to mention I didn't bring a gun. As it turned out it was unnecessary: he went about twenty yards and piled up dead. (Hey Lt Dan: this hog was only 100 yards down from where you shot yours in the same draw last spring) He gutted out at 141 lbs. and cleaned up nice.
I would include photos but haven't figured it out yet.
