Can you believe it? It took me twelve years to draw a tag for California's Zone 3 Period 2 and now, one week before the season opens, I hurt my knee, BAD. I was target shooting with my rifle last night on some property we own in the foothills and as I rose from a kneeling position - OUCH!!

About seven years ago I tore the cartilage in the same knee and had to have surgery to repair the damage. This feels the same, so I'm pretty sure I'll have to go back under the knife. The only part that really bothers me though, is what this does to my hunt. Its pretty hard to crawl through the sagebrush with crutches and a knee brace. Even though I'm dissapointed, I'm not giving up. If you see a hunter up in Modoc hobbling around on crutches say "Hi", say a prayer for me, and chase an antelope my way.

Do they make camo colored crutches?

BradCa,

Sorry to hear about your knee. What a bummer. Talk about bad timing.
Good luck on the hunt. A can of spay paint can fix up those cruches in no time.

Don't give up. It was my experience that once you found an area they were using you could set up and have goats work by. Within easy driving distance too.

Brad

Drive around find some lopes and shoot from the hood.

If I can do it with my knee so can you.

Good luck

Thanks for all of the encouragement! I went to my orthopedic surgeon yesterday and sure enough I did tear the cartilage in my knee. He was pretty cool about it and told me to go get an antelope and then he'll do my surgery when I get back. It's actually not feeling too bad today. I'm able to hobble around without my crutches as long as I don't try to go too far. The only bad part is that it's locked up so my leg stays slightly bent all the time. Thanks again to those of you who have helped me out! You know who you are.
