...been to a live record book pronghorn?

I dropped into a human-sized ravine and made tracks west to where I thought would be the best place to poke my head out and look. My partner hiked south to some bushes on a hill that would provide him some cover and a vantage point. When I reached my destination I glanced to the hill and saw my partner only a hundred yards away looking straight at me through his scope. I got excited. I crawled to the top and peeked through the grass. I saw horns, but just the tips of them. I inched up to where I could see the prongs, and then the bases, and then the bucks eyes. The buck didn't notice me. He was preoccupied with what my partner was doing on the hill. I never grabbed my binoculars. I could see flies buzzing around him and landing on his nose and eyes. I guessed him to score around 87 inches. He grunted at the bushes on the hill, struted around with his head up and upper lip curled back. I only wish I'd had my camera.

That buck was taken during the season and green scored 86 plus. His horns were 17 6/8 inches long.

I'd say about 10 yards, and about 3 times a week. The road I drive to and from work on is loaded with Pronghorns and they just feed right up to it. Sometimes I come close to hitting them when they run across the road. Almost hit a Doe Antelope last week.

Not by a long shot, but there are quite a few that I'm sure would book. The Land I drive by is private and who knows how long its been since its been hunted (some Saudi family owns the land) . Right outside city limits so they're used to vehicle's unless you stop, then they bolt

Grail,
The closest shot I've ever made was on an antelope. I'd made a 6.5x06 for a guided hunt in Wyo. I lived in Texas at the time. The heck of it was was the guide had called it a day about 3:00pm and left a hunter from Illinois and I on the ranch with permission to keep hunting. The other hunter was using a .30-06 with a 10x scope on it. I was using the 6.5x06 with a 2-7x Redfield on it. The other hunter took a nice antelope from about 30 yards and I took mine at a measured 16 feet. Talk about two unhappy guides. Have a good day.
