I have shot at hogs at 50yds. Missed 'em, hit em and lost em, killed em quickly, and trailed in the thick brush in the dead of night. Comparatively speaking, I think I have alot of experience in this area. I agree with Speck. Granted an arrow will have plenty left after 50 yds to get the job done, a hog is an extremely tough animal with the heart low, forward, and protected. I have personally seen double lunged shot hogs run a 1/2 mile. Throw in some Manzanita, Chemise, and a moonless night and it ain't no fun. As many of us can attest to, a lost animal is a horrible feeling. It's much more fun to try and close that gap to 30 yds. without gettin' busted. It's actually a great feeling to have been so close and have them run off compared to the gut wrenching feeling of a lost hog. Just my
