where to fish in Redding?

I was just hopeing that someone could help me out. I go to Redding every other saturday to see my oldest daughter. I want to take her fishing but dont know Redding very well. I am looking for a good place to take her fishing on shore. She has some dissabillaties so it has to be easy access and in Redding or Anderson. I have taken her to some ponds in Anderson and caught a lot of little Blue Gill but I thought I would take her some where else where she stands a good chance at catching a keeper. I know the Sacramento river runs through there but I have never fished that and dont know where to go. With her dissablities I need to find a good area where she can get to safely. I would really appreciate some help with this.
