This is another case of "just because you CAN do it, doesn't mean you SHOULD".
NEVER mix your pointed rounds with flat/roundnoses for a tube-fed gun. It can only end in tears... and usually at the worst possible time.
For a 30-30, a good round nose or flat nose is perfectly fine and there's no need to load up spitzers or BTs.

My; the 150 grain is far more than you'll ever need, and from any rifle I've ever shot they shoot better.![]()
Go to the range, try 150 & 170's; then use which ever shot the best. Either bullet is more than enough for hogs.
