Ok guys, I just got off the phone with George and firmed up some things. He had us starting hunting on Saturday not Friday evening. Anyhow, I told him we are ALL meeting at the visitors center on Friday at 11:30am, we are scheduled to hunt Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday till noon.

The wood deal, he's checking with the guy to firm up the price, then he'll call me. He thinks he only has good wood left, and said if we get 1/2 cord delivered it may be like $80 but he'll let me know.

Just a suggestion to everyone. I know most of us will be showing up by themselves, maybe we can all help one another in setting up their tents so we can get things unpacked and ready to go faster so we can get hunting.

I will be showing up with Sancho hopefully lol. Speaking of which, you got PM sancho! As long as I don't have to split the wood, I think I'll be fine if I had to pay a little extra Mel :).

TRA, i would love to hunt the lake. but i only have one tag. (i have low aspirations ;)). i always thought i could kill one, then run to big5, for another tag. is there a store nearby, if by divine intervention we nail one?

dang..maybe i should just buy another tag, and quit being so cheap.

There's a few places within about 20mins you can grab an extra tag if needed, so don't let that keep you from hitting the lake before hand. I'd meet up with you guys but I have to take the girlfriend to the airport first thing in the morning.

Mel, even for $80 I'd be willing to kick in a bit if that keeps me from having to load my own firewood from home.

I just spoke to Ken, he said my buddies got into hogs last weekend, shots were fired but missed, one was a huge boar. Ken said there's some places on the ranch that haven't been hunted this year, very tough terrain but doable. It's one of those areas where you would need to pack it out, no roads to it and very steep getting out. He thinks it's one of those spots where the hogs hole up to get away from any pressure, this may be a honey hole for those hard core hunters. If I go to this area, someone may need to bring their pack frame so I can hitch a ride back up :rotflmao:

Point me in the right direction for the thick n' nasty stuff; I'm ready for it. Especially if there's a monster boar in the middle of it.

Bad news, My boss has decided that I need to work graves for the month of April, I have my days off still but will probably be brain-dead like last trip.

Good news,
I'm packed and ready. I can help with setting up tents also and no problem with extra money for firewood, I'm all out at the house so couldn't bring any to contribute otherwise.
May try to find some other broadheads for my recurve before the hunt and dial them in. The G5's seem to give my arrow a waggle, thats a technical term, and dont group like my field points.
Won't be long now. I feel like a kid waiting for Xmas.

How is the hunting going to be set up?
Drop everyone by themselves or groups/pairs?

Mel did you ask about quads.

sucks, muddy that you will be all sleepy.

i cannot believe the hunt is here. curious how the ranch will be broken up with respect to archers/riflemen.
are we about 50/50 in population? (50% arrows versus bullets?)

i will set up my tent in my backyard and start looking for my equipment...HORRAY!

dont feel bad Muddy, bad news for me is after tuesday i have to work 8 days striaght 1-10's until the hunt, no mercy! good new's is thats why i asked for 5 days off because i knew they would pull that little # before my hunt, so that gives me a day before and after the hunt to prepare and relax.

if anyone needs a tent or sleeping bag, i have extras like new.
i am just runnin around today taking care of any loose ends before the hunt. getting ready to head to a pro shop for some extra peep tubing and check out a new PSE bow i am intrested in, already have some nice bows for sure but always looking for new toy's to play with!..............tra

Muddy, go a head and bring the quad. Ken was asking me yesterday if anyone had one and George tole me his insurance guy told him he was covered. If anyone else has a quad, bring it.

We will probably figure things out when we get there as far as who will hunt where, the archery guys will be split up from the rifle guys and I don't know who will be taking who.

Weather.com says 30%-40% chance of rain Monday - Thursday, that will make the roads up there pretty snotty. With my summer tent, I may be sleeping in my Tahoe. Hopefully it doesn't get too bad, the rain will hopefully make the hogs come out and play :shootin-rifle:
