Local fish rock band returns

Speaking of fishing and music, the World's Greatest Fishing Band, the fish rock band formerly known as the Dorados, is back and playing music, tying flies and tellin' lies. This weekend, Gary Shiebler's band performed at the Fred Hall Fishing Tackle and Boat Show in Long Beach.
Shiebler said Dorados co-founder Larry Robinson moved on to focus on his own music and solo career, but Shiebler has decided to "give it one more shot." He recruited longtime friend and songwriter Jim Dawson and formed the new band.
And just out for the now eight-piece band is a 50-song, four-CD set produced by Double R Records in Nashville. There are two CDs devoted to freshwater fishing, one for saltwater anglers and one for fly-fishing enthusiasts. Some of the old favorites such as "When Tammy Does the Shimmy at the Fish Fry," "Papa Was a Fishin' Man," "Fishin Train" and "Why's Everybody Gettin' Bit Except Me?" are on there, as are some new tunes like "Runnin' Wide Open," "Fish Hard," "Island Blood," "Cane Pole and Bobber" and "Under an Old Man's Gaze."
Shiebler said all the concerts at the Fred Hall Show this week were taped and will be part of a "Music's Untold Stories" segment that will air nationally on Country Music Television and other networks later in the spring.
