Anyone else put in?  Went last year for the first time and had an absolute blast.  Just over a month until we find out if we got drawn (According to last year's timing).

I put in for WY goats this year.  This will be my first time hunting them.  Just bought a new .243 too!  What a good way to break it in.  Do you gents fly  or drive to WY?

drive. i hate to fly even though i have to all the time.. also i like to have all my stuff with me and not tied to flight times, someone picking me up, and bring my meat home if lucky.

We drive as well.  Not so bad if you have a partner to switch off with.  We leave about 6 am on Saturday morning and stay over in Wendover, NV/UT Saturday night.  From there it is a short 4-5 more hours to our camp.  Ready to hunt Sunday night through Wednesday and then tool our way back home by the following Sunday around noon.  It makes for a nice relaxing trip and a chance in the latter part of the week to see some new things and visit some old friends up north.

This is my third year now putting in and have never drawn, I paid the extra $100 so hopefully this will help.

I fly back to MN every fall to hunt whitetail there and the Dakotas and Montana for pheasant, grouse, ducks and geese.  This year putting in for goats has left wondering if I should just drive to WY and then drive to the others states and drive back.  The $400 just to fly my dog would pay for the gas.  That's a few extra days of driving though.  I don't know what the heck to do.

From the advise of veteran out-of-staters, we paid the extra $100 both last year and this year as well.  It paid off last year, and we will see pretty soon if it worked again.  If you don't get drawn you get your money back, so no big deal.  $100 bucks better not break me, otherwise I should not even be applying for any out of state hunting.

Good luck to all!

I applied as well. This is my first time applying for anything out of California. Just out of curiosity, how long does it take to drive there from socal? If i draw (fingers crossed), how many days do you think i should schedule beforehand for scouting?

I live in WY and I put in too.  I've put in ever since I could(when I was 12) and have only drawn 1 time, thats 1 out of 5 tries.  Hopefully I will draw again this year. I put in for unit 60.  What units did you guys put in for?

I also did my antelope app. a little diferent this year for CA. I put my wife and I in the same draw and hunt code, but different applications. I will be scouting no mattr what, but she might be the only one hunting.

That's strike four for me with no home runs this year.  Looks like my only big game hunting this year will be in A and B zone.

Well, good and bad news for me.

The good news is that I got drawn for two doe tags.  The bad news is that I didn't get the buck tag I applied for.  I guess it really isn't bad news...the meat is excellent and I'm already almost through my goat from last year!

Time to fill the freezer and concentrate on the ever so popular A and B zone California deer hunts!
