Me and my wife met up with Ernesto in wyoming and he helped us bag 2 super bucks. we met up in rock springs and Ernesto's familiarity with the area was a huge help. not only did he point us in the right direction but he also got my buck on video.
my buck has 8" bases, 4" daggers and not quite sure how to measure the length but it is either 15" or 16"s tall. buck has super mass. we saw so many bucks. Also Dennis who goes by hnt4life drew the same tag and speaking to him on the phone tonight he also got his buck and was on his way back to CA.
thanks again Ernesto it was a real pleasure to hunt with you.

It was no problem at all! It was fun going out and we did see a lot of antelope. Paul's buck has 16" horns, which is a good buck anywhere. The mass was awesome too, one of the biggest antelope I have ever saw. Here are the pics:

That last pic is of a buck that needs a little more time to grow.

In the first post it says something about a 16 inch buck with 4 inch prongs. Then there's a picture of a sixteen inch buck. His prongs look like they're 6+ inches. Are these supposed to be the same bucks?

If they are the same bucks....let's do the math and see how big the buck is....16 inches long; I'll agree with that. 4 inch prongs; I'll disagree with this. His prongs look like they have 4 inches protruding off the main horn which means he should have at least 2 inches behind. I'm gonna go with 6 inch prongs. 8 inch bases; I've seen maybe one or two of these in my entire life, but if you say they're 8 inches I'll believe it (unless the buck was killed in Arizona or New Mexico). If his bases are 8 inches then his next can't be too far off. In the pictures it doesn't even look like it gets smaller, but I don't want the score of this buck to end up too big. I'll say 6.6. His tops look thin to average so I'll go with 6.4.
16 + 6 = 22; 8 + 6.6 = 14.6 + 6.4 = 21.2 + 22 = 43.2 * 2 = 86.4 for the final green score. That's my guess. At least that's my guess if the buck from the first post and the picture are the same. Either way....awesome bucks. Nice job!

Grail,
The antelope was 16" and i think paul measured his daggers from where they branch out, not in where you are suppose to, anyways are you tony grimmet or do you work for him?

I'm his son. Yeah, if he measured from where they branch they should be around 6 inches. That's a big buck.

I just dropped off my buck at the taxidermist. going off of memory i believe that from the dagger tips to the middle of the back base it was over 6". bases i believe were over 8" and i found out from talking to the taxidermist that i was measuring the length wrong so i am not sure of length..
Ernesto also got the actual shot on video. it was excellent footage. does anyone know what score you need in wyoming to make book and is it green or net score that is needed?
thanks paul

Paul,
I believe 80 net is B and C Awards, and 82 is all-time. Grail can probably verify this. That is the b c book, wyoming doesn't have a seperate record book.

That is correct. And remember, it's net after 60 days of drying. It should still make the all time book pretty easily.

I figured in my country scoring way that that was a book goat. I am real knew to guesstimating on goats but he looked over 82. Thanks Grail for the score, and paul, you should be very, very happy with this. My biggest is only 72"..........Allen

And given that antelope shrink very rapidly I think I may have been pretty dead on with the guess-timated green score. And with only one view. Everybody gets lucky now and then I guess. About the rapid shrinking...one time we green scored a buck around 84 inches. We then caped him. After 2 hours the bases had bled out so bad he lost 3/8ths of an inch on each one. The buck was 2 inches smaller overall after only 2 hours. Granted this is an extreme case...antelope still shrink way to fast.

Thanks everyone. we got the pics back today and we are very happy with both of the pronghorns we got. We also got a couple of mule deer bucks on the trip but they were pretty small but we are eating the jerky off of them already.
Dennis got a nice pronghorn in the same unit with a very wide spread. i hope he can get the picture posted on the site.

great start to the hunting season.

Ernesto...

I've always thought you were a nice kid! Great job...to everyone. I realy enjoy hearing of how people meet on these sites, get together and from great freindships. I've been lucky enough to form a few myself.

Those are sure some nice goats. Better then the 2 I have to my name, but we'll keep trying.

Great job everyone and thanks Grail for the information, I know squat about scoring pronghorns.I'd like to learn more. Any suggestions???
