Hey all,
While doing trail work out in the field I happened to notice that the acorn crop is a lot lighter than it has been in the past few years. My not affect hunting this year but I’ll bet the population will be down next season. If any of you guys are out there, let me know what you think of the available food supply.
Man, I’m counting the days till November.

That's a bummer. I guess there won't be any pigs there this year. No need hunt it, I'll have to look for somewhere else hunt . Everyone else should too

That's it I am not hunting Sonoma either, BDB where we going?

What makes the acorn crop suffer? There was plenty of rain this year.

LD,

Rains too late into the spring affect the polination process of the oaks.

I’m not too concerned about the pig population this year. However, if there’s not much food this year, it may affect the litter sizes. Less food means fewer babies. I’ll do the government CYA thing now and mention that the pigs do have plenty of other food sources out here so you never know what may happen. A bumper mushroom crop from a cold early winter could be a boon to them and make me look like a fool

Hey Joel,
Doug may be there during the opener and I'll show up after returning from a bear hunt about the third week or so.
Thanks for posting the Update.

Seventeen days to go!

<

Ok, I got to put on my badge for this post because I inadvertently cited a fellow board member without realizing it at the park the other day (boy do I feel like a jerk!)
<
.
Remember when you are hunting here this November that all of the park rules apply as well as fish and game regulations.
The ones that most frequently get broken are:

Parking in front of gates (most of witch are to fire roads or other emergency access).

Not paying the boat launch fee or camping fee. (Come on guys it 3 bucks for crying out loud!)

Don’t take any trailers out to Yorty Creek boat launch.

Don’t go onto the neighbor’s property.

Don’t stick yourself with your own arrow!

Stick to those, and we should get thru this season and probably have more land to play on next season. (That’s about the only hint I can offer for now about the 2008/2009 season.)

Good luck out there folks and I’ll see you in the field.
