I will probably wait a few weeks before I dare to hit it on the weekend
<
The wife and I will make a quick day hunt probably the week of the 27th, probably about mid week.

BDB, sounds good! I will let you know when I go and we can hook up. Hope you don't mind the wife going along, she's been wanting to head out with me lately. I'm going to take her to CR for a one dayer on the 12th, then a one dayer at Lake Sonoma. Hey, you up for a weekend hunt in December at CR?

December will be tough but maybe. My wife is away in Russia from the 9th of Nov until Dec 1. Basically I will be hunting every weekend and some weekdays during that time. After she is back we are headed to Canada for x-mas, so like I said, Dec might be tough. I'll get out at least one weekend though.

Ok, i'll let you know what days i'll be heading over to Lake Sonoma during mid week. Are you open to any day? I'm looking probably at the 28th or 29th, do those days work?

Sounds OK right now. Kinda far away to know for sure. Oh and no worries about bringing the wife, I look forward to meeting her one of these days.

Rangerjoel, I hunted deer for nine days on the North end and the acorn crop is doing well. Pleanty of stuff on the ground and still in the trees. The pigs and deer are tearing it up! Ed F

There's gonna be soooooo many people up there for the opener... I was in the local gun shop today buying some ammo for a bear hunt (yeah ammo, not arrows), and there was a group of 3 guys in there who had never heard of JHO; however, they said they had a group of 13 guys heading up with 5 boats! I bet there are 150 guys up there opening morning... Can you say "mad house"?

I'm certain Kentuck is in Idaho knee deep in deer and elk... not sure if we're gonna hear from him or not. I'll send FT an e-mail and see if I can't get his number from in2blacktail...

I'm in for sure, 4:30am, sharp, on the 11th!

I seem to recall hearing a voice say "steve, since I can't make it, you should meet the guys on the 11th and shoot my hog for me" Could have been a dream sequence though. Damn voices in my head

Last time I remembered hunting lake sonoma it wasn't a walk in the park. Needless to say no matter what all the yahoos will be doing, most of them will be circling the lake thinking they're going to spot something, no one is going to shoot a pig sitting in a boat, so bring your track spikes and be ready to hunt because I don't want to hear any excuses about how crowded the lake is. It's not an easy hunt to begin with, so be prepared to work!

LD, the last time I remember you hunting Lake Sonoma, you ended up bonding with bird watchers from the "City"

Hey RangerJoel,

It was great to meet you on Sunday. Did you hear of anyone taking any hogs so far?

No, I haven’t heard a thing, and the way I have the checkout set up now, I won’t know until the end of the month!
Come no guys, did any one get anything out there (besides sore muscles)?

FYI went out to Old Skaggs Springs Road and saw some fresh rooting right there in the parking lot. That’s got to be a promising sign.

Joel

P.S. I think you guys made up the majority or park visitors on Sunday and Monday!

The Calfly website with all the hunting info is down!
You can still find the zipped files at the beginning of this thread.
Also, 7 pigs have been taken so far.
Good luck out there guys!
P.S. Got a report from one of our neighbors that there was a bear near rockpile road and Stewart’s pt road. Let me know if you spot any scat.

Joel
