After intense searching around on various forums, I have found great information on x10. Most was from around 5 or 6 years ago so I was wondering if anyone could supply me with some current advice for the 2016 season. I'm currently planning on hunting the north-west portion of the zone away from any road or trails. Am I on the right track with this or should I look elsewhere? I am in good physical shape with light gear and a backpacking background so getting in far away from trails and covering ground is not an issue. Considering this year's conditions what should be my main focus? hunting near water, feed, elevation? Any advice or response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Sorry its after the opener, but most of that northwest area is pretty high and dry this time of year. I packed into Big Whitney meadow (over Cottonwood Pass from Horseshoe Meadow trailhead) a week ago and there was very little water. I was around the Troy Meadows area on opening day the south fork of the Kern is pretty dry, but Fish Creek is showing a little water.
