nice.... is that a domestic hog?

A .357 will kill hogs... it's just not the gun of choice by most veteran hog hunters.

Barel, large hams, black with a white stripe, pink feet, short hair, what are you thinking?

it's not a farm pig but I would hardly call it feral. maybe second generation at best. I shot it on a ranch this weakend. the owner said that if I was more about the meat than the trophy to go for one of the feral sows and to stay away from the boars.
I woul have liked to have shot a russian boar but the thought of my freezer filled with a good eatin pig was more apealing to me than shooting a boar on a ranch that was more or less a petting zoo.

I am so glad I did not bring a scoped rifle like my buddy did.
as lame as the place was it was still a lot of fun and we got almost 300 pounds of good eatin pork.

Thanks Jesse. I had checked the 357 thread he started in Dec. and read where he believed he was hunting at Big Horn. If I had to guess I would say it was the Old MacDonald place.

yes it was big horn canyon ranch.

for an expierenced hunter this ranch is an absolute joke but I would'nt mind going back and taking my nephew bow hunting in a few years. this place would be a blast for 10 year old kid.
I had know problem sneaking up within 35 yards of the pigs but the boars really kept there distance and would actually have been a bit of a challange with open sights on a revolver.

also gettin back to the 357 for pigs thing I must say I was very impressed with the buffalo bore amunition I used. that pig never knew what hit her and was completly flat backed from a high shoulder shot that came in one side and right out the other severing her spine in the process

You might want to wait until he is 12 thats if you were planning on him hunting.
