Anglers hit salmon jackpot off Bay Area coast

The past week has brought treasures to the Bay Area coast, with the best salmon bite of the season of big fish that average 12 to 15 pounds — and sprinkling of 20-pounders. The Golden Gate Fleet found vast acres of krill between Point Reyes and the North Farallon Island, outside N Buoy. The best spot has been in water 300 to 320 feet deep, where the fish are feasting on krill 25 to 45 feet deep. The bite started last week when most boats limited at mid-week.
