WITH opening day of dove season 19 days away . it's awful quiet what's going on guys ????????

Planning to hit Blythe for the opener, although the last few years it hasn't produced for us. Hit 3 spots last year, and should have started with the 3rd, probably would have had a decent shoot. Crossing my fingers that we'll have some opportunities, my hunting partners are my Dad and a few of his friends who all are slowing down quite a bit, so it's become more of an annual outing vs. a hunt like years past.

WON news just came out with their annual pre dove report. Looks pretty good according to to them. Probably not a bad idea to look it over . My southern cal family says doves everywhere. Looks pretty spotty up here in the far north. Drove the whole northern Central Valley last weekend and didn't see a ton of birds

No dove sightings were I live. My hunting partner who has lived here for 70 years says they used to come in waves. No more

Who has shot a banded dove? I shot one near Niland in 2017. It was banded a month before.

My nephew got one in Yuma last year pretty cool . I've shot so many doves in my life and not one band. He has probably shot 50 in his life and got one .he almost threw it out out after breasting it.

Today I'm organizing my decoy trailer with over 2000 dove silhouettes, and layout blinds with AC.

So far in Blythe it’s been looking decent. Better than last year for sure. But it has been hot!!! It’s looking like a scorcher for this years opener.

We'll be in Blythe, as always. Ammo has been stockpiled in anticipation of my 25:3 (shot:dove) ratio, and no, I haven't shot since quail season ended last January, why do you ask?

I was watching the radar prediction. Showed it popping up all over today . totally unpredictable is my best guess and they don't seem to even predict thundershowers very far out . We should have some idea by Friday. We have still managed to be successful by going and waiting for weather windows and staying close to main roads lol. Anyone down there that has a real weather reporr? Can't trust the weather channel

Definitely can’t trust the weather channel. The outskirts of town got hammered today. Washes flowing, lots of puddles out in the desert. The valley however didn’t get a drop, skirted the edge of town like always. May scatter some because of the water in the desert but doubtful as it’s been so dry all year I think most will evaporate by tomorrow
