Warning: These photos may prove upsetting. Or to some, not upsetting at all. And that’s the problem. Those visiting pristine Island Lake and the gorgeous Crooked Lakes Trail in the Bowman Lakes Recreation Area last weekend were exposed to used toilet paper, trash and human waste along the both the lake and trail at several locations. On trips earlier this year, I have seen a used diaper along Sky Trail at Point Reyes National Seashore and had other similar episodes at Big Basin Redwoods State Park and other parks and pristine areas.
