I know this is a really big stretch but I wanted to put it out there...

I am driving from Northern Cal to Wyoming for an antelope hunt and will have all sorts of space if someone needs a ride. It's just me and my gear in my Suburban.

Leaving Sonoma County early on Sept 24th and returning the 30th.

Email me if interested.

Disclaimer: Sorry, no pictures. I'm lame at it...

Just got back from Wyoming via Montana actually. What a blast we had.

The antelope hunting in Wyoming was great, especially for a first timer. We spotted some pronghorns in the middle of this big hay field so we walked up a ditch to sneak closer. We set up at 150 yards and had perfect shots, two goats down. My very first-ever rifle kill. We lay there watching this buck come in and try to harrass the dying goats when all of a sudden a coyote jumped out of the bushes 60 yards in front of us and headed over to do the same. My brother missed the coyote and it took off like nobody's business. I learned how to field dress antelope and we dragged them over to the edge of the field so we could pick them up with the truck.

As we were driving to pick up our first two antelope, we spotted another couple on a hillside so we decided to see if we could get closer. Of course, they take off over the hill. We followed and spotted them as we crested a rise. They were halfway up the hillside and staring in our direction. One was standing and the other was laying down so we made a plan for my brother to shoot for the one standing up and I would shoot for the other when it stood up. Worked to perfection. I drilled mine so hard that it flew straight up and landed in a heap.

We were tagged out so we headed to my brother's place in Montana. He's got an archery elk tag so I accompanied him while he bowhunted. What incredibly beautiful country. We did not see any shootable elk but did get within 25 yards of some bighorn sheep that were busy ramming heads. Awesome. My brother has preference points but Montana only issues 4 bighorn tags/year. I promised I'd help him hunt if he ever draws.

Long drive home but we had antelope medallions last night. Incredibly tender and very tasty since these are grassfed animals.

Now we're looking to find a place next year we can do multiple species like, say, antelope and deer. What fun, we can't wait for next time.

Good job. I'd eat pronghorn over deer any day of the week. Too bad you can't get much more than 40 lbs of meat off of one.

I hunted area 48 two years ago with some friends. We all had 2-3 tags and we all filled them. We had a blast. I agree, long drive. We drove non-stop from Sonora (15 hours). But well worth it every few years or so.
