Is there public land in eastern Colorado that anyone can recommend for antelope hunting in a fairly flat (no climbing as I am not in great shape. Just not dead yet). I am looking for an area that is easy to locate and hunt on my own. Can't afford a guide. Have a 4x4 truck and want to locate from it and then stalk from there. Also want to prairedog hunt in the area if possible. I know that is a tall order, Antelope and Prairedog all within a 100 miles or so. Help if you can. I have never hunted out of my own state.

There is the Commanche Natl' Grasslands in the South East and the Pawnee Natl' Grasslands in the North East and numerous State Wildlife areas that you could chase a speed goat on.
For Antelope permission to hunt on private land is pretty easy to come by, but they will laugh at you if you ask to Deer hunt. Better take out a 2nd Mortgage if you want to hunt Deer out East

I'll second what COHunter said. Pawnee is a good spot for both. It can get crowded though. You may spend a lot of time knocking on doors to get permission. Bunches of the land are leased up by clubs or outfitters.

Good Luck and good hunting.
