Somebody post up some reports!

Dang, wish I'd been paying attention when someone said CR was gonna be open this weekend. I'd have been there.

So are they posting a schedule this year?

Yeah, but CR would have been a great warm-up. Plus, I have yet to score a public land hog. I've got four tags left.

Shot a 10lb piglet. Missed two shots on two running sows that were both at least 200lbs at about 150 yards. Saw a really nice boar get taken by the river. 250lbs with at least 3" cutters. Was taken by a group of Mexicans driving a lifted landcruiser with 'Jurassic Park' on the side. I saw the pic of your cousins with the 7 hogs, they were all about 30-50lbs. Nice job though to your cousins. 20 hogs were taken by the end of the day today, I believe there were 3 turkeys taken as well.

It was my first time to CR and I loved every seconds of it. I think I saw your bronco at the tracks Gunner. I was camped straight in front of you, there were 3 of us in a 2wd Mazda pickup.

The 2005-06 tags expire june 1st. Then tags for 2006-07 need to be bought.

Some places run out by june, and won't recieve any new ones until the new "season" is shipped by DFG in April and May.

Lesson - Have a few extra on hand if possible. I'll prolly end up eating two pig tags this year, but it's better than being caught short.

I beleive you mean they expire June 30th. The 06-07 hunting season starts July 1st.

EvBouret, We saw a picture of a young guy around 20 years old holding a pig that was 4-8 lbs. Not sure if that was you, but my group does not think highly of that kind of hunting. What exactly are you to gain by shooting a 5 lb or even ten(if you say so) pound pig. I have seen bigger cottontails! I'm not speaking for everyone, but the few hunters that were gathered around the board all commented about your lack of ethics.
<
By the way, by the time we checked out today the Fish and Game had pulled the picture....apparently to many negative comments.....

Probably - The only date I'm concerned with right now is May 12..

Was a friend of mine in the picture, first time hog hunting. sorry if it offended anyone

Im from a place where hogs are a nuisance. I know what it can be like when they're everywhere. As much as you guys think you want it that way you don't understand the reprocussions of having a stable hog population. I worked an entire summer repairing damage from wild hogs, had to regreen a golf course that was destroyed, had to replant my entire garden 3 times, had to refill chicken food buckets at least a dozen times. I've hunted my whole life being told to take every hog you see. Plus if you've never eaten a suckling you're missing out. I can totally understand why people would frown against it, maybe it's differences in cultures from here and Hawaii.
