I totally agree with the recent posts. There's no harm in shootin a 10 pounder, as long as it's not layin wasted in the field to rot. Season that porker up and toss it on the roaster, rotisserie style........can't beat that.......

"I pray that Cal Poly is charging you or your family out of state tuition"

"hope that you forked out $55.90 (out of state pig tag) for that 4 lb piglet you killed"

"What you were taught in hawaii about killing pigs should stay there"

"You will never be a "hunter" in my book."

Buckfinder go find a different hunting forum, this crap isn't needed here!

Everyone take a deep breathe and lets just agree to disagree. I'll refrain from adding my input for now... Time to get back on topic or let the thread die... Just my 2 pennies guys.

Thanks for getting my back everyone. But hopefully he gets the point and won't make any disrespectful posts anymore. I looked back and he's made a few others in the past.

BuckFinder: We obviously disagree, we'll keep it that way if you want. People are raised with different standards of ethics, yours is obviously different than mine and I respect that, but please keep the snappy posts to yourself.

Many people get the terms "ethical" and "legal" confused. I have never posted that Eve has committed an "illegal" act. As with any public forum, we all hold our own opinions and my opinion has always been that it is unethical to shoot a 4 pound piglet. Similarly, it is completely legal, according to Ca. Fish and Game to shoot waterfowl sitting on the water. Is it ethical? This is not fair chase in my book. Eve, has stated that he was taught to kill all pigs so I assume that he means wet sows included. I would hope that the average pig hunter would morally disapprove of shooting a dripping sow or the week old piglets should the opportunity present itself? Perhaps I'm in the minority?

EvBouret I would not have shot the pig But you have every right to have, or your friend, and i would have shaken your hand and gave you a congrats. Just because its not right for me does give me the right to impose my ETHICS on anyone else

Personally attacking someone because you don't agree with how they hunt is wrong!

Sometimes this site can get rediculous, for me i wouldn't scold Eve he has every right to take a 10lb pig. I would not personally take a piglet but i have shot at a wet sow before and it was in the heat of the moment type of thing, i kinda felt bad for even shootin at it. But no need to act like an 8th grade school girl over something that you don't even understand. Sorry if everyones morals can't make buckfinders bar of approval, i have already done the run around with him and feel if you don't have nothin nice to say then say nothin at all.

EV, your tag, your pig, you determine size. End of story. Likely tatsted like prime rib, falling off the bone. Nice shootin'

Wild pigs are exotic animals and are not native to CA. Thus the reason, there is no size limit or take limit, just tags. And don't get me started on tags for exotic animals.

That had to be a pretty good shot placement to take that pig. The smaller ones move around faster too.

I don't see a problem w/ Ev. taking that hog. I've enjoyed reading a ton of Ev's posts and he's added a lot of value to others questions on this board.

While I wouldn't shoot a piglet I do respect Ev for the fact that here we have a 21 year old speaking with respect and not using internet jive like most kids, correction, young men his age. A college student who isn't a antihunting tree huggin lefty. And bringing other young men into this great sport and lifestyle. And I am sure they will let the next piglet pass for a mature hog.

I guess all of us who shot forked-horn bucks are unethical hunters and only the people who shot 3, 4, and 5 pointers are ethical hunters

Guys like Buckfinder don't get asked on trips. Respectful guys like you do. I commend you for not blasting him with a 12 gauge full of insults.
Hey. I went to Poly and loved every minute of it. Worked at SloBrew, CCS, worked at Cafe Brio. Graduated in O.H. fromthe school of AG. and spent lots of time hiking around. I have a hook up in See Canyon with an apple orchard owner who wants me to sleep in the orchard when the pigs come in the fall. Game warden issued me a depredation permit last year to blast them at night, with lights, any size, and no tags needed! Spent the night there once last year. No pigs but you can hear them all over the canyon. I may build a round trap if you want in on some meat.I think I still have your number and may give you a ring sometime when I need an extra for hunting it or Nac.lake.Sometimes my regulars can't make it. I go up to my in laws about once a month and try to hunt every time. They are in Nipomo. Catch ya later. Give chanterelle hunting a try sometime, you'll be hooked. There might be some in Poly Canyon. I know for a fact they are all around the area.

Hey...I am sponsored by Moondoggies...and you worked for their rivals...BOOOO to you...
<

Im currently in the school of Ag as well, in the forestry program.

I have a friend who just graduated from SLO High who has a friend who owns property in See Canyon. They said they've seen hogs but my friend hasn't been able to secure us a spot to hunt there. I'd definetly be down for a BBQ is you build that trap. I could help you too, I've trapped a few hogs in my day.

As far as chantrelle hunting goes...what are they good for? are they good eating? I've seen a few but just walk by them.

Batch61: Funny thing is...I consider myself a tree hugging lefty. I'm a liberal when it comes to most things, hunting is one of the things that I side with conservatives on

Here's two babys I let live...I ended up taking one of them like 6 monthes later when it was probably 50-60 lbs. I caught them with my bare hands *twice*!!! About 2 weeks apart.

Here's the chicken food stealing sow that I let live as well. It was the mother of the two that I caught in the trashcan.
