My Dad and I got goats in that zone in 99. I'll put some info together and send you in the next couple of days to help get you started.

One thing I just remebered is that when we drew the DFG had an orientation meeting up in McArthur that you could attend. It was a very informative meeting and they also had all the area topo maps displayed with areas that contained goats highlighted. This helped us a lot.

Hntrjohn,
Congratulations to you and your wife. I hunted that area last year and had a blast. You will see a lot of antelope and I'm sure your wife will get a nice one. There are several people on this page with some great info on the Likely Tables area and I'm sure they will pass on that info to you like they did for me.
Good luck!
Brad

Congratulations! And with this new preference point system, you'll probably get a tag next year, too! I should have been making my wife buy hunting licenses and Antelope and Sheep tags!

I would like to thank everybody who gave me great tips and area's to start looking for the lopes.

There was some very great ones out there, and a few are still out there.

The wife and I did a few stalks that got blown before we got her close enough for a conformable shot. She did shoot at one at 200 yards on the last evening and she could not believe she missed because everything looked good before the shot rang out. I just thought she blew it and told her we will find another one.

While that herd was going over the hill we say a coyote. She told me to kill it. It was probably 300 yards out, and I held dead on it. The bullet hit quite a bit high. While the coyote was still confused on which way to go I shot again, holding right on it. Same thing it hit high.

Needless to say, after that I took a good look at the gun and noticed the scope had a decent dent in it. Some were along the way the scope got hit and went off, a lot. When I got it home, on a 2 foot by 2 target, the bullet did not even get on the paper.

The wife and I had a lot of fun during the hunt together, and that is important. And it is called hunting, not shooting.
