Early highway openings at Sierra passes

Spring arrives to the high country Tioga Pass, the epic Sierra pass that crowns Yosemite National Park at an elevation of 9,943 feet, is projected to open May 11. That would###the fourth-earliest opening day for Tioga Pass since 1980, behind only May 2 in 1987, May 7 last year and May 8 in 1985. Glacier Point, the lookout perch that towers over Half Dome, is set to open Friday.
