took the boys out on there first turkey hunt and well,we ran into
this dude,needless to say he got it!!memorys of a life time,also
posted the outcome of the turkey hunt in the turkey forum,these
are 2 of my 3 boys,they are all 3 identical triplets,i think the state
of california might have to up the tag quota in the near future,enjoy...

Of course, that would be illegal, so we know that's not what happened.

Hmm... I didn't think of that. I'm sure you're correct that isn't what happened...

But if that was all I had, and I was getting charged, it would be a bigger man than me who stood his ground... if it came to it, I'd imagine DFG could quickly deduce from the pattern size and frontal hit that it was a close quarters shot in self defense and no infraction would result (I hope).

i always pac my .325wsm along when im hunting turkeys,the places i hunt
have been known to produce both in the past for me,as for shot placement,
when you hit them between the eyes with 200grains of accubond,its a wonder
there head is still attached,and you also dont ruin abit of meat.

Thanks for the clarification... no surprise that the .325 musses up a boars face a bit!

Can I ask how your experience has been with the Accubonds? My understanding is that they have a thicker jacket that prevents explosive expansion (like with the ballistic tips), and promotes controlled expansion with limited weight loss.

I've been having excellent results with the Barnes all-copper 165 grain TSX bullets in my .308, but when recently sighting in my sweetie's new 7mm-08, it seemed to group the 140 grain Accubonds a bit better than the 140 grain TSX's. My concern is how does the Accubond perform when the shots are very near range (say 25 yards or closer)... any input?

Good to hear it, Hatchet! Nice shot. One of these days my .325 is gonna arrive...then I get to wait the eternal 10 days to collect it. Hope to see how it performs on a Tejon hog if it's here by Memorial Day.

I picked up some 180gr Accubonds for my -06 in Texas (found out that my inconsistent accuracy lately has been the result of my handloads...). Neither of my shots on the Axis or Blackbuck was very far away, and both were neck shots... I was pleased with the performance of the bullets in both cases.

Neither round exploded in any way, and while the wound on the blackbuck was pretty impressive, it was completely acceptable. I wouldn't hesitate to use the same bullet for a heart/lung shot.

They group pretty well too.

Edited to add... fairly certain that the Accubonds will NOT fit the description of "lead-free" ammo. Just a consideration if you're already having some success with the Barnes.

Roger that... my .308 is plenty happy with the TSX's and I'm not bullet shopping there, lead ban or not... I'm still considering options on FMBC's new 7mm-08... her rifle seems to like the factory Accubond load but I have no first hand experience with that bullet's terminal performance. I'm sure I can develop a handload that will group the TSX's, and it's nice to hear others are having sucess with that Accubond bullet.... our bases are covered!
