I would like to go to WY and hunt antelope. Ive been told there are ALOT of DIY public land opportunities in wyoming. This will be my first out of state hunt and would appreciate any information from anybody familiar with WY antelope hunting, or the process of setting up a out of state hunt. Thanks

Start by going to the Wyo Fish & Game website. Most of your questions can be answered there. While there is a lot of public land a lot of it is land locked by private which makes it off limits without permission. Some ranches charge trespass fees to hunt and they are pretty reasonable compared to other states.

Do this. Go to the Public Land Information Center. Google it. There you can superimpose the hunting units over your chosen state. Find a unit with a lot of yellow. That's BLM land and it will most likely hold antelope. Then go to the WY GFD website and check draw odds and success rates. Without points you will not draw the best units but there are still plenty that are workable. Find one or two that have good draw odds and decent success. Then go back to the PLIC and buy the BLM maps for that unit. Get on the horn and call the GFD biologist for the unit. Have the map in front of you and mark it up. Go hunting and kill one. For WY antelope, it's almost that easy.

The units in the SW portion of the state are the hardest to draw. Don't waste your time if you are starting out with no points. Focus on units in the Central and Eastern part of the state.
