A dedicated hunter could do well in D7 just about every year. Especially when packing in a few miles. Not far enough to be in Yosemite, but back in a ways. I enjoyed a couple of seasons I hunted there when my folks were in Oakhurst. If you are local (like within an hours drive of the mountains) there is no reason you shouldn't have a buck lined up each year if you were dedicated. And I will give a major +1 about the foothill (and townie) bucks. Saw some jaw-droppers in yards just out of Oakhurst that might as well be lawn ornaments for all the moving around they dont do.
I saw more deer at 3000 feet last year then in the high country. As mentioned above privite property may be your ticket to sucess. I live here and although fairly new I have several options already for deer and hogs in the foothills. If this buck stays here long enough I may not have to leave my porch to score....................![]()
John, with you being from North Fork, you know you have bucks, does, and fawns running across your yard every day. LOL. I drive by North Fork everytime I'm going hunting or coming back from a hunting trip just to look at them. Lots and lots of deer in that area. Too bad there are too many houses around and it's all private properties only. If I were you, I would just hunt in the backyard come archery season. LOL
lucky u, since they added another verizen tower im having a hard time finding a dead zone. I am sure if I have an emergency it will be in probably one of the only dead zones left. I save all my old cell phone and shoot them, great therapy.....just feels goooooooooodMy plan is to keep driving until just out of cell phone range. That's where I camp lol
If you're relying on your cell phone in the woods, you shouldn't be in the woods. It's nice to have but don't rely on technology
