hey guys, my dad and i would like to hunt nevada next year for antelope, but we have many questions as to how to go about it. we live in hawaii, and have no idea on what is all involved in getting tags for this hunt. is it drawing only, or are over the counter tags available too? being that this is both our first antelope hunt, should we go ahead and go through an outfitter/guide service for this?? is there anyplace or anyone that you all could reccomend to us as a starting point for this??

all help is greatly appreciated!
thanks,
Jay

Big,
Nevada is mostly public land,so that 's a big plus,BUT you have to draw a tag to get one.And that is not an easy task, especially if you want a good unit.I have five or six preference points acumulated and still probably have a few years till I get a coveted tag.And if you want to get points, you have to leave them your license fee and apps fee.I donate to them about 250-300 dollars a year to try for tags,so maybe some day something will happen. You maybe able to find some land owners tags,if you look hard enough, but you will pay a chunk. They do have some awesome goats in that state, but you might look at WY. or CO. for some over the counter tags...Good luck...
You can go to NDOW.com and check it out.

There are a few states that have over the counter archery tags. It's easier to draw an archery tag in Nevada, I don't know how much easier because I applied this year for the first time and I drew a tag. Now I have to wait 5 years before I can re-apply.
I applied only once in Wyo for a rifle tag and I didn't draw, but I have customers who draw there every year.

I live in Nevada, and I can't even draw a tag, I now have three preference points. I am seriously thinking about going to Idaho or Utah for an Antelope tag. My brother was lucky enough to draw a tag 6 years ago. This was his first year he could apply for one again.

best thing you can do is go to www.ndow.org

there you can find all the links to most of your questions and links to guides and a list of guides and sub-guides.

and you can apply at www.huntnevada.com

hope that helps you
