Sometimes on long weekends the training unit may pull out and they you can go into the closed areas Sunday or Monday. Not saying it will happen but you may want to check Sat or Sunday afternoon before the check in window closes to see if any areas are going to open.

support420, once you get an area you can stay there until you leave, you don't have to check in each morning. THe only time to go back to the check in is when you want to switch areas.

Looks like I'm not getting out of here until tomorrow morning, too much work today. I'm going to call and check what's left open before I leave. If it's slim pickens I may pass. With the rain the roads will be mucked up bad and if 10/13, 16 or 15 were open we could at least drive in on those a bit.

I got home a little while ago from FHL. I hadn't been hunting there in years. I liked the property and would go back. That said, I hunted TA 25 Sat and Sunday and didn't see much. The rain really wasn't a problem, I never got more than sprinkled on while I was hunting. I didn't see any fresh tracks, just a odd colored coyote that cruised by at 40yds.
I didn't have my list of what kind of vehicals members were driving so I asked a couple of people about Jesse's members, no luck. Next time I'll make sure I bring a list. I was the guy in the white Dodge 4x 4 with the lumber rack. I think I saw 420, but again I didn't have a list at the time. Who was there? Anybody get anything?

hey power man/ducslayer-
I am back from FHL as well and had a great weekend.
I didn't make a list of the vehicles from JHO's either and I do not believe I saw your trucks this weekend. I was on the other end of the base in area 8 on Sat and Sun.

spectr17- not sure if you made it down or not, but it was very wet and slick as you said and there were only a few areas open. which is a bummer but if you hunt FHL, you know what i mean.

We ended up in area 8 on Saturday and found the hogs in one of the canyons. They had rooted the flats between 8 and the closed area 12 a and b.

I tracked them into a brush patch on top of the hill and that is when the shooting began. 2 pigs down and one pig wounded. Tried to track it for a few miles and had to give up because of the rain. It was washing away the tracks and the blood.

It rained pretty hard on Saturday and we had only one way out. As we were headed out, we ran into a downed oak tree across the road. We thought we were going to have to walk out at the point. Just then another truck pulled up on the other side of the road and they helped out get out. We broke that tree branch by branch and moved it out of the way. I have to admit, I was a bit worried at that point, but all of us helping we made it out. The pigs were about 60 and 120 fielded dressed. We missed the other 8 hogs or so and never found the wounded one. Overall it was another successful hunt at FHL.

I will post pics as soon as we get them back.

Hey All, back as well. Like the rest of you I forgot my list of vehicles

I realize now that I spoke with WtPops on Saturday afternoon in Area 5. I'm the guy that asked you about the deer skull. We left Sun at 1200 and at that time there had been 6 pigs taken, 4 in Area 8, 1 in 29 or 30, and 1 big boy in area 1. I think they said about 225 - 230 lbs.
All in all a good trip. We didn't spot any hogs in 5 on Sat, hunted 25 and 9 on Sunday, no hogs there either. We saw about 40 deer in 5 on Saturday. Deer, Bobcat, and a huge herd of elk on Sunday.
You guys in 8, how did you get in on Sunday? We tried to cut back to the backside of 9 through 8 and couldn't get in, man it was slippery!

Hello All,

Well my group and I made it back. We hunted area 25 Sat. and Sun. Just like most of you we saw elk, coyote, and a crap load of pig. Yes there were a bunch of them. I must have counted at least 30+. Of course the would be across the road in the restricted area. They must have been a good half a mile in. We kept an eye on them but they just stayed there graising. There were 4 very large ones about a dozen med. and a lot of baby piggy's. They were there Sun. at sundown. It was tempting but not really worth the troube we would be in if caught. Not a good thing.

Powerman, we came acrossed you on Sat. We were in the gray F-350 4x4.

I am now a believer of how slippery it can get after and during the rain.

I will continue later. My supervisor wants me to work right now.
