Can anybody provide some info the Likely Tables area for antelope. My buddy drew one of the 44 tags for the 1st period, August 23rd to the 31st. Any ranchers that let people hunt up there for a fee or any public land that is productive. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Bigtusker,

I am also from your area, would his name be Ron Brown? Hard to draw tag, can not be that many successful tag holders in our area. Hunted the unit in 95. Yes there are private ranches that allow a tresspass fee basis, but mostly med. to small antelope on them. Most success on the "tables" or the "garden". Ranch-wife at this site should have great info as she is from the area. Take a rifle you can shoot 300yrds. The "tables" can be extremly tough to get close. Good Luck

Mr "Refrigeration" himself. That lucky b@$t@* drew an archery antelope for Oregon too! Him and I are headed to Oregon in October to hunt mule deer. I know a couple guys up there in Lassen/Modoc that work for CDF but with all the fires we have been having lately, I'm having trouble getting in touch with them. I'm heading out myself in a couple hours for the big fire in the Santa Clara Unit.

No, not Mark D, but he mounts everything I kill. You hunt with Anthony B. as in "Apples"

Bigtusker,

I'm guessing that Kentuck is sending you the same info that he gave me last year. It was very helpful to me. I found antelope almost exactly where he told me to look. You might also look into private ranches in the area. You need a good map and time to scout.

Good luck.

I just wanted to throw out a caution on one supposed guide up in that area. I've received reliable reports from people in that area of one guide who's been busted for trespassing and guiding without a license.

Caveat Emptor if you decide to use the guy. Check for a current guide license and legit hunting to make sure you don't end up getting cited or arrested.

Kentuck, didn't get 'em. My email is exclusive, unless you put "hunting", "deer", "pig" or "boar" in the subject line, they get filtered. Can you try again? Thanks, Tusker

My wife also pulled a tag for likely tables. I think the hard part will be trying to get her close enough for a shot in her range.

My advice for hunting goats, come up the Wednesday before season and start scouting. then you won't be as tempted to shoot that 10 or 12 inch dink that you see saturday morning at 7:30 am. I can't tell you how many people have shot a dink then regret it when that 14 incher walks in front of them. Anything over 14 inches is a nice antelope for this area.
There is alot of public and private land up here, so please get a good map that shows the which is which. I get rather testy if I have to run hunters off my property.

Following Jesse's warning check your "guides" out if you choose to go that route. There was a motel manager up there when we hunted that would take folks out, no charge. Was told he just liked to take folks out. Well when we picked our goat heads up from the taxidermists he said dfg had busted him for guiding without a license and investigated him (the taxidermist) to see if he was in with the motel manager. So be carefull.

Although I'm not giving out information this year for antelope locations and where to go, I can provide you with the name of a few "guides" to avoid. PM me if you want that info. And good luck with your hunt - you'll have a great time!!

Hi sporty!
Not too many fires up this way (darn it!). The only fire we've had was south of Tulelake - about 4000 acres last I heard. Other than that, it is HOT up here and humid!! I think I'm ready for fall!!
