Has Anyone hunted the wilderness unlimited property in this canyon or the Oak tree ranch.If so what do you think of the pig hunting in this area.I heard it used to be ok but I haven't heard anything about it lately.Any Info would be great. Thanks

I've hunted los gato ranch. Always alot of activities around the old mine and adobe flat. If you are going there, these areas will be worthwhile to check out. Is Oak Tree Ranch part of WU?

Oak tree ranch is a private ranch. To access it there is a easment thru wu.It is on the left side of los gatos canyon road about 3 miles north of los gatos park.

I hunted Los Gatos for years, but in my opinion, a better bet with WU is Twin Peaks, which is across the street from Los Gatos. Once you learn the lay of the land at Twin Peaks, you will see hogs. It's tough to get a shot, though, because there is so much cover. Deer hunting at Twin Peaks is also good and it is far more scenic than Los Gatos. I'd be happy to tell you what I know if you wish to email me directly.

in that case the hogs are out..........2 were killed two weeks ago and one last weekend.

Ill admit Im Ignorant at times.The ranch that I hunt on is on the property that Bear Canyon and Robbers gulch run thru it.I believe that two brothers once owned this property and it got split up. You being a local,how is the hog and deer hunting in this area?? Any input would be greatly accepted

Jackman: The ranch in question is the old Burnett Ranch and adjoins our place. Both of the brothers have passed away and their estate was split with the north 1/2 sold to someone from Hollister. The south end is owned by the sone of one of the past owners - an avid, and very, very good bow hunter.

The deer hunting is picking up, not like it was 25 years ago, but I would call it good to very good right now if you are a walker. Pig hunting is always good if you know the area you are hunting and are a good spot and stalk hunter.

Also, FYI - the Los Gatos Ranch was previously called the Squire Ranch and was owned for decades by a gentleman by the name of Grant Squire.

Thankyou for the info.Im hunting deer this year with my two sons. 12 and 15 We are all walkers and my boys can sneak up on a hamburger pretty good. Your note is very encouraging. Im taking them up up to the ranch on may 19 and see if we can sneek up on a pig. If not, we'

ll work on the ground squirrel population.

was up there last weekend........was very little sign anywhere.......looked like a single hog was working above the pond within the last week or so......also some rooting on the hillside down low by the creek close to the second gate........I've been told that there's alot of rooting on the new side of the ranch........have yet to go check it out.........the new shortcut is passable on a quad but be carefull........needs work and gets narrow in spots.....good luck and happy hunting.

THANKS FOR THE UPDATE.I DONT HAVE AN ATV.JUST A LITTLE TOYOTA 4 RUNNER.SO I DONT THINK I CAN ACCESS THAT OTHER SIDE AT ALL. UNLESS I WALK. THAT WOULD BE ONE HECK OF A HIKE .ESPESALLY IF I GET LUCKY. I WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED AFTER I GET BACK.

Hey jackman. Birddawg & I are friends. I am a member as well as my little brother. Where you at? We're in bakersfield. I was just up there with B.D.,Not much happening right now. Lots of mud & water still. Planning on going this weekend with my daughter. I'm selling that prowler trailer in camp. I want a quad, Like you I am on foot. Which is fine but we can't get into alot of places as you know. I want to check out the other side too. Anyways I'm the one in the goin huntin trailer with the white ford 4x4.Maybe we met before?
