Backcountry, you have a way with words, you are so right.
As much as I love reading "I am so right", nah, I'm just stirring the pot like the naysayers, except in the opposite direction.

As usual BC says what i wish i could communicate
<
I have to respect and honor my bud.He says no pics,no info,so no pics no info,it is.Perhaps he and his family are still hunting the area
<
As to those who doubt me,i can totally understand their view.Nothing would make me happier than posting the toad of a lifetime, complete with the wood yardstick hanging in his horns.Im not in the habit of B.S. and this is no exception,i have a 8"x10" glossy here on my desk.
<
Im not saying this is a new record or overstating the matter. It is a bonafide 35 1/4" California Muley, and until the dust settles and hes done hunting ive said all im at liberty to say.It wasnt my intent to tease you all.But hes a good bud and my word has to be kept.Thanks.

I told myself that I would not bite on this one. But here goes. This is a major "let's see how many chains we can pull til the truth comes out kinda post."
So he got a big buck. Big deal. Many of us have. Who cares where he got it?
None of us. If it's true. There won't be another one like it.

Post a picture of Half of the rack. NO harm no foul. You won't be showing the whole rack but will give us enought to go on and will silence the nay sayers.

hey trinity, you just keep your word to your friend until the time is right.maybe i am just old fashioned and gullible, but i tend to believe a man until someone or something proves him wrong.keep putting just enough in this thread to keep the cynics complaining, then post the pics.sometimes i think people say things just to feel their lips flap.
no matter how this turns out, what a story its been.

ackleyfan: I think you can only get one Ctag, at least in C4 anyway.

Sounds like Trinity River is dropping two clues for us...
His buddy still hunting and he said straight up it is a "California Muley".
That makes it what?, a D6 buck?... what was open?, can't believe I don't have a zone map around here even.. BC?, I think you mentioned..
Anyway, I now callin it a Calaveras buck if it was open...it's fun to guess.
I suspect most peeps just want the zone it was taken in.

Unless I missed something, is there really anything to keep talking about? Why don't we all just move on until we see a NEW post that says: "here are the pics."

I'm not saying this thing is a hoax (if it is...it's already achieved it's goal); i'm just saying what's there to talk about until we see a freakin' picture or two?

Originally, the guessing about what zone and what weapon was fun...but now to see someone on PAGE 5 sifting through more "CLUES" makes me want to lean over and puke in my watebasket!! Stop the insanity! Let's just chill, crack open a Heineken, talk about some other stuff and wait to see the pictures on the cover of a magazine.

No offense Wello, I know you are just having fun

I don't care either way when the pics come out or the info I will be the first to look.
I just like bringing the topic back to the top of the list to watch everyone think there is something to check on (like maybe a pic).

And wello and everyone else he never said he has another tag he said his family was still hunting up there, But the point is it's a x zone so what's the diff. (or is it).

Would be funny if a d-zone and he would tell. I would bet the tags would sell out the next day if not already gone lol.

Don't matter to me I already have 2 tags bought.

Neither filled as of yet lol like alway's

Shazamm! Now that's a buck!

FYI, if you're not a registered refuge member you can't view linked pics. You think it would be OK to repost that pic here?

deerhuntr:

To be redundantly defensive he said "Perhaps he and his family are still hunting the area".. no one said he did have a second tag but just that it basically sounds like he might.:)....

Capt nixon: oh gee, we don't like spew.. it smells up the forest for the trees.

so yea, since I not gettin a deer this year I need to go get a pig or a salmon. Anyone game for changing this string of spew into a hog chain? Where do I get a free pig around Sacramento with a gun. Sonoma bow sounds fun but stalking up on a pig with a bow in the open fields (thats only way I doin it) sounds pretty dang tough.

We should all.....

Can't see the harm in mentioning the zone. It's not like the whole world is gonna descend on that zone and his "secret spot" will be discovered....

Heck, that sounds like "hunting" to me... FYI, at Lake Sonoma, you'll get spot-n-stalk chances, but there is also a lot of steep land with thick cover where still hunting is the way to go. That or a drive...

Hmm... page 6, wonder if we'll get 10 pages?

This thread is a joke let it die where it belongs, when someone starts looking for $$$ from hunting and taking a animal, I won't pay a nickle, this guy is NO hunter!

Yes this thread should die, but take it for what it is. The hunter did not post it, an excited friend did (as most of us do if a friend of ours tagged a big one). The hunter asked that no info be given out so the friend is honoring that. Big deal, get over it people. The hunter and his friend did not make this thread what it has become, every one here posting and reposting and reposting did. Why give them crap for what this has become.

As for him being greedy and not a "real" hunter, I don't see how you can say that knowing nothing of the hunter. I do not hunt for money or for fame, never have, obviously as I am not that successful. I hunt because I enjoy it. Now if by chance while out hunting I tag the next world record by a fluke in the process (not that this one is), things change. I would want to keep it quiet for a while. If an article being written about it would add a few dollars in my pocket, why the hell not. If Cabelas or someone else said hey, we'll give you $100,000 and a replica head for yours, have at it, thats lots more hunting for me. There's a difference between wanting all of the above and chasing after it and it just happening because that's the way things are.

Sure I want to see the pics but is it really worth name calling, flaming and all the other crap that always comes up when a big buck is shot? Not to me.

If you've ever bought a single name-brand piece of hunting gear, ammunition, weapon, magazine, or whatever, you're supporting what you call "a scam", and are thus a hypocrit (and qualified to work for the John Kerry campaign). If you don't like this thread, DON'T CLICK ON IT.
