All it takes is a lead in the right direction, some time in the field and persistence. The hogs are out there. If you do you homework, the reward comes even easier. Once again, way to go Modlinb!

Congrats! How about a story?

Did you shoot them both from the same group or did you locate two different groups?

Did you take these all by yourself?

What method of take did you use?

What was the terrain like?

Not much of a story teller but yes i took an old friend with me i sent him up one valley i took the other all kinds of fresh sign got excited until i saw the fresh bear scat. walked a ways farter and spotted to me what looked like a good place to sleep and when i got closer i could smell them took my time and had one wake to snap and snort at me then came charging out at about 10 feet she ran up the hillside couldnt get a shot then another busted nailed it and all hell broke loose they came out of everywhere i took the smallest about 200 out running up the hill quartering away. The guy i took with took the pig i first busted after like 10 shots it was finally down lol so yes all one groop the terain wasnt real deep canyons so wasnt a bad drag or hike and YES for those of you damn neer shit myself when it finally came out. Missed the biggest pigs by maybe a day or so found huge tracks and nothing busted close to that size so i'll give it a couple weeks and try for the trophy next time. Work sucks right now slowing down way to much so may have to go out even more. thanks again guys

Wow! So you actually shot three pigs all together.

What made you think it was a good place to sleep?

How many total in the group?

Sounds like they where in some pretty thick cover. What kind of cover where they held up in?

Who gave you the tip on the pigs in the area?

Sorry for all of the questions but this sounds like a great opportunity to learn from someone with a lot of hunting experience.

white thorns or buck brush i think they call it out here and it was the only big cover for a long ways right next to the fresh rooting so just made sence. Got tips on where the best places where to start looking at dug out a map to study the blm properties tons of little ones took off we got the biggest out of the bunch. Lots of driving and glassing looking for sign thats how i found them like i said good optics are the only way to go. good luck just keep with it youll find them hell i've never smelled a pig but after reading as much as i have on them i knew thats what i got into just remember 2 plus 2 = 4 dont over think it. I know i got lucky this time as easy as i got them but meats in the freezer and planning on going back out walking for hours finding the big boar. Might take 10 times going out loving the outdoors but its worth it hell of alot better than the best day at work

Is this your first pig/pigs?

How much did your friends pig dress out at?

What type of optics do you use?

How far from the road did you spot the sign that led you to the cover they where held up in?

What type of rifle/ammo did you use?

Where did you hit the pigs you shot? How did the ammo you used perform?

Where were they rooting?

How far from water?

How many do you estimate total? When you say tons of little ones are you referring to piglet size?

How far from the road?

Congrats bud. I really want to keep this post going but i think the guy above my post is going to do that. Looks like he doesn't believe you, but who gives a sh*t Right? I am new to hunting public land new to hunting all together however on my first pig hunt matter of fact first hunt i found sighn in three different areas on public land. Ill admit i didn't get a pig but if it was not for the storm that rolled in i believe i would have.
I have access to local private land in my area but public land has much more to offer. Huntin, fishing, hiking, camping and seeing wildlife. I don't understand how some people can say public land does not hold pigs and there are a few out there who refuse to believe u can get pigs off PL.
Also let me try to tip toe around this subject, What irritates me with these guided hunts is how can they honestly think charging trophy fees is ok when the wild game does not belong to them It belongs to the state. They are doing nothing else for you they are not mounting it or anything like that its no more work to them. I dont care if they charge 300$ or 30$ trophy fees are retarded and I swear i will never pay one. To those of you who will pay them don't get pissed off at me just my opinion:patiotic-wavin-flag Its your money you have the right to spend it on whatever u want
