The deadline to apply for New Mexico’s oryx hunting licenses and deer entry hunts has moved up to Feb. 1, 2003. This is three months earlier than in 2002.
The Feb. 1, 2003 deadline also applies to all population reduction/depredation hunts (deer, elk, antelope, javelina and oryx ), bear entry permits for state-owned wildlife management areas and two public-land spring turkey hunts.
The State Game Commission made the change during its October meeting in Portales when it established big game hunting regulations for the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons. New Mexico’s license year spans April 1 to March 31.
Hunters who apply for deer entry hunts and oryx licenses must submit the entire license fee and nonrefundable $6 application fee with the application.
• Those who want to apply for private-land deer entry hunts in Units 4 and 5A must obtain an application from a landowner in the respective units.
• Two hunters now may apply on the same oryx application.
• The deadline to apply for elk, antelope, ibex, javelina and bighorn sheep licenses is April 26, 2003.
Resident/Nonresident
Deer Entry $32.00/$196.00
Deer Q, HD, Q/HD $32.00/$316.00
Oryx $109.00/$1,516.00
