North state wildfire forces recreation closures

As 900 fire fighters battled the Salmon River Complex Fire Tuesday in California’s north state, the U.S. Forest Service and Siskiyou County Sheriffs Department shut down several campgrounds, roads to trailheads, a river canyon and a vast tract of land to public access. The blaze flamed 90 percent out of ###control. The fire is believed to have started last Wednesday night at Sawyers Bar along the north side of the Salmon River, reported Ken Sandusky of the Forest Service. The fire was human-caused, the Forest Service confirmed, and the incident is being investigated.
