I used an active system for the system to take a picture of the snake.
So what exactly is an "active system"?

Heck, I never knew that my corn snake (pet) was a rascally Red Rat Snake. Lots of info on the web site - good posting and great photo

Growing up in Florida, I have seen several gopher snakes, One time I was mowing a 30 acre field getting ready for melons and ran over 3 different gopher snakes with the bush hog, one of them was a whopper, slung part of him up onto the tractor with me, I almost abandoned ship, and things smelled a little crappy for the rest of the day. I have seen em 8 feet long or so, and I agree with Jesse, they might not be dangerous but nobody has told them that yet… great picture, I have a rattler in a hole I am going to try to get like this, thanks sharing…..

What's all this stuff about gopher snakes being aggressive? I used to catch them all the time as a kid and kept several as pets for up to a year before letting them go. They were always docile.

I have caught a few young ones in the chicken houses before that were very docile, but most every grown one I have seen thinks he can eat you, maybe territorial, or they may not like dodging the bush hog all the time
