Its that time of the year again guys, I wanted to let all you fellow Wingshooters know about a fun Pheasant hunt North of the San Joaquin, South of Tulare, in a small town called Pixley. The Annual Pixley Pheasant hunt will take place opening weekend November 9th at 8:00 am, 2013 and again on the Thanksgiving Holiday. I know most guys head far South for native Pheasant but this hunt is a blast regardless of the domestic birds. Ive been attending for almost twenty years now and every year I feel like I have been reunited with a family I'd left behind 362 days before. Where ever you go your greeted with a smile and a handshake. I will have a pdf. ready tomorrow if anyone would like me to send the pamphlet via email or mail.

About the Hunt:
At the clubhouse where you buy your tags you can get a map of the huntable areas and a low down on where the birds will be. Only the first [200] hunters will acquire tags and be legal to hunt. DFG Wardens have been present the past 3 years.

There is a free camp ground a few miles from the clubhouse. There is a small hotel in town that isn't the most sightly, I call it the Pixley Hilton. There is another 20 minutes up the I-5 in Delano.

The terrain is mostly vineyards which can be miserable or beneficial; some alfalfa is usually present, almond groves, and the dreaded cotton.

The night before the hunt there is hot coffee and drinks at the clubhouse (some partying), Saturday morning there is breakfast at the local high school by their 4H, and Saturday night a sweet spit bbq.

There is a shotgun, rifle, and a few other prizes for raffle each year. I enter every year and always watch someone else take it home.

The hunt is usually 150$ for tags, I can assure you it is money well spent. All the proceeds for the hunt are redirected into the community. The fire department and school systems benefit mainly.

All the lands can be hunted until the season ends with a second stock on Thanksgiving day.

This is the hunt I wait for each season, along with my Father and hunting buddies. It is emotionally captivating, your fellow hunters, the people, and the hunt, combine to make a wonderful package of fellowship and memories that will last forever.

Any questions feel free to shoot me a message ill be as helpful as I can. You can email me at Casey.Wright@Calbaptist.edu.

That was well written. It is after trick or treating and a huge family night. I log on to live vicariously through all you hunters who get time to go out, and then I read this treat. Very interested. I will send you an email. Thanks for sharing, very kind of you.

Ikoolu are you there every year with that Rambler? There are usually 2-3 of them, with big groups though. Ill be there in the BurgundyF150, the yeller dog, and a small white travel trailer(you can get h2o at the clubhouse). Another JessesHunting.com forum user will be there also, he just emailed me. Ill come around to the campsites and say hello to everyone, of course. AdamBasser17 come join us, I have been in love with this hunt since I was a baby and I want it to continue another 25 years for my future son. Thanks for reading!

Nick that was an amazing time, your beautiful family made our trip and we cant wait to hang out again. For all of you guys who haven't met Nick, you should beware, the guys a hell of a hunter and combo'd with a badass dog + crackshot wife, don't plan on getting any birds around this guy! The results for the hunt were dreary but with a quick group talk from our new president any doubt any of us had was wiped away. A new promising outlook for our hunt has reassured my hope that sooner or later I will be able to enjoy it with my future son.
