You can buy an AR-10 if you want, you just can't have more than ten round mags, and you need a bullet button.

I would think the terrain you're hunting in would be the primary deciding factor of a firearm. Some places are so overgrown a pistol is best, other places are so open a .300 is better suited. I will take the .300WM on my next pig hunt. Forget tthe AR! They weigh a ton although if you run into a pot grow or are being charged by hogs they work fine.

I use a 300 WBY with a 180 grain E tip by Nosler. I have hunted a lot of aminals and the hardest animal to bring down is a wild hog. They are tough. My therorey is big gun for tough hogs. If you can handle the recoil, the bigger the better. I have also used my sharp rifle 50/90 which also works very good on hogs. If I was only going to use one gun it would by my WBY. I have taken hogs with a 243, 7mm mag, 300 winchester mag, sharps 50/90. They all work but the 243 was a little lite on a 300 yard shot on a 500 lbs boar. Bullet placement is the number one priority

Where in tarnation is the Remmington 6MM? It's what I would use, because I don't have an old Marlin 30-30.

I also have a CZ bolt in 7.62, but don't know if that is enough. Maybe with the Carbon ammo.

I have used just about every rifle that I own, Starting with 30-06. 30-30, 7-30 waters, 25-06, 300 weauthby, 375 winchester,445 super mag Dan Wesson pistol.
I have remington XP-100 in 7BR that I plan on using on my next hunt. Of course best of all is just being out htere hunting them HOGS.

I just got a beretta 12 ga. extrema 2 with KO . I got it for waterfowl but also for pigs and deer in "shotgun only" areas w/rifled barrel. I was going to get a dedicated slug gun (savage 220) but I like the idea of having a semi-auto slug gun for busti'n pigs out of their beds. With the KO it is the softest shooting shotgun on the market. That appeals to me even more every year that I get older! haha

I picked up my Marlin 444 and shot it once. I was hooked. Yes the bullet is huge and it will knock down the really big and leave big holes. I like it for the short barrel with a Leupold 3x9. I never get hung up on brush and I can point and shoot for close range. I always have hit what I pointed at and never have had a problem. The only limit has been 150 yrds for accuracy. I can get to 200 if needed but it is hard and takes a lot more time.

My 2nd will be a 30 06.
