Well I had to send the wife with my Aunt and Uncle due to we pulled different areas with same opener. My son's mule deer archery is open too so he tagged along with his bow just incase he saw something he wanted. After some looking around they found their first nice buck on a hill but too far away so they opted to look for more. They found a herd with two bucks in it with one of them being a shooter. My uncle did the spotting for her as she took aim and squeezed one off down a hill into a valley at 198 yards. My uncle tells her she shot high and rack another round in. I don't think she has had any past experience shooting down hill and put that ontop of her excitement. She watched the lope as he stops again and presents her with another shot. Boom she makes the hit and down he goes. Here is Jenns opening day first ever antelope.:)

My day wasn't as easy. We had family over our house that night and Jenn didn't get into bed untill 1am and me closer to 2am and up at 4:30am so I was a tad tired. Our family reunion was going on at my Aunt and Uncles ranch in Lamoille and it was our turn to entertain playing guitar hero for the kids and shuffle board and drinks for the adults. Well I send off the wife and put the quad into the back of my truck. My dad drove me back from my 6 day fishing trip out of San Diego and was staying at my place so I had the privelage of his company on my hunt. We take off and get around 26 miles or so back when my power steering pump blew and I lost my brakes and steering. We muscled the truck back to the shop in Elko and had my brother and new brother-inlaw that just married my sister at the ranch two days prior taking advantage of all the family being here meet us with another truck and a jeep. We loaded the quad into the truck and had them take it to my house and drop it off while my dad and I loaded the ice chest into the jeep and took back off. Rocky start but were back on our way. I spot my lope just before my dad spots the herd further down. There were two shooters but I opted to stalk the one that wasn't in the herd being it was wide open country and stalking the one in the herd with all those eyes would have been almost impossible. After about a hour or more we had closed the distance from 700plus yards to 372 yards and decided to lay down and hope he feed in this direction. He ended up closing the distance to around 350 or so when I just couldn't stand it anymore. The sweat was rolling off my brow and into my eyes and I was worried I wouldn't be able to take the shot if I waited anymore so I told my dad that I'm taking the shot. He had him glassed and was now waiting on me to find a comfortable position. I gently squeezed the trigger on my 270 and waited to see him again. My dad tells me he's running right at us so I jack another round in and watch him blow through my scope. When I get him in my scope the next time it looks like he's going to stop and when he did I could see the hit from my first shot, there was no reason to try a second. The first shot hit him right in the boiler!! He staggers and goes down. My first antelope and a picture or two of both our antelopes.

Great looking goats there. Sounds like a great time all the way around. Except for the truck issues of course.

Thanks all. We had a great time. I will be sharpening the knifes and finishing them off this weekend. Had to go to Wallyworld and pick up a new vaccum packer, mine is getting real tired. Stoped at Sears and ordered another freezer too, should be deliverd on Friday. Good luck to the rest of the people that are still out.:)

Maddog582, I bumped into Mike and Tracie at Mullies last night and got to see a small pic of your lope on his cell phone. Kind of hard to see. Can't wait to see your pics. I thought you were sticking around here untill the 29th. I was thinking about calling you tomorrow to join up for a beer at the Pine or Bitter End. I hope you enjoyed your trip and managed to get some fly fishing in.
Thanks everyone for the kind posts. :JHO rocks:

Yeah I caught a bunch of fish on Monday andTuesday up at Mountain City and Lamoille canyon. Everybody was working so I thought I would head home and maybe chase a pig or two around on Friday.

Ya, I don't think I want to go with the new screen name "Bankrupt"!! I will stick with superduty.
They had it fixed by the end of the day on Monday. I had just had it replaced the week before and apparently the tech had missed or cut the o-ring connection on the high pressure line going to the pump and that's what failed. Being I live in a hunting community you can very well believe he made me know that there was an ass chewing done and nothing but sincere appologies to me. Doesn't help the fact that it happend but we made the best of it anyways and still scored.:)
Thanks again on all the great comments.
Mel, we have our hands full for sure and hopefully you will see pictures and be able to read about all the superduties hunting adventures this year. Two bucks and two cow elk yet to come.:smiley-mouse:
