We'd also like to have a dog launching competition like on ESPN's Outdoor Days.

Anybody got any ideas on that? I guess we need a launch ramp and some bumpers right?

I sent an E-mail and link to the forum to Ed Zieralski of the San Diego Tribune (Outdoors writer). Hopefully he will give this event a plug in his column and be there for the story. Ed is a real nice guy and an outdoorsman to boot.....

Brandon, don't you remember the last time you cooked for a group?

For dog launch all you need is a boat dock really, but youd have to build basically a long ruler that could float on the water so you can judge distances. The cooking demo was a good idea what about a game cooking contest? I'll even volunteer as a judge! Or what about some type of raffle if we can get people to donate stuff. Also what kind of calling contests would they be?

Well. it looks like Lake Henshaw isn't going to work now. I took Frank's "Yeah we can do it, we have the perfect place" as a green light. Now Frank wants meetings, paperwork and needs to check with Vista Irrigation who owns the land. This all after he comes back from a trip in 10 days. I don't think we have time to wait myself for that to happen.

We still have Lake Sutherland and San Vincente.

We just can't shoot much at Sutherland, venders can't sell or have dogs.

You might look into:prado Olympic Shooting Park
17501 Pomona Rincon Road, Chino, CA 91710
(909) 597-4794

Plenty of parking, trap, skeet, etc.

I can do the graphic and text layout for the flyers. I will start on it and as soon as everything is set I will post it up.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
1st Annual SoCal Waterfowl Day[/b]
... will this be the official name for the event?

Jesse,
That's a bummer on Henshaw. Does it seem feasable to salavage that plan, even with the delay? Did Frank make it sound unfeasable, as in he's just throwing out obstacles in a polite way to say "ain't happening"?

I'm just thinking, that if we're stuck with a City Lake venue, then we may loose a lot of possible vendors due to the "no selling" caviat.

Later,
Mike

Frank was open to having the event, I just took his saying we could do it and him picking a date as a green light. LAter he said he needed to meet with me and needed to talk to Vista. With him gone for 10 days it's almost too short a time to promote the event. I can meet with him when he comes back next Friday but that leaves us only a few weeks to get it together.

Sutherland is limited on what we can do. I'm about ready to concede defeat and start planning for it next year.

We're not dead yet, hold that fork.

Dave was over at Prado and Janet seemed open to hosting the Waterfowl Day. I'll go by there Monday and take a look. IT's been a few years since I've been there.

We can have dogs there, shooting, lots of room for venders, $10 for overnight camping. Only drawback is it's $12 a carload to get in. But that would take care of the insurance liabililty problem.

This is a more centrally located spot compared to HEnshaw for Socal peeps. Wemight even be able to pull some of the central valley knuckledraggers down here.

Looking at Sat Sept 24th or Sunday Sept 25th for dates.

Any thoughts on the admission price and dates?

Dates and location would be perfect. You might want to call and make sure that they are open on Mondays. There is a large open area next to a pond just past the officeand down to the left.

Prado dog park is closed on Mondays... at least for dog training. Also got to make sure it is $12 for a "car load". For dog training your allowed one other person, otherwise I think they charge per head.

$12 parking fee? I thought you were trying to avoid this? I have no problems with it (I often go just to watch dog trials). Either days are fine, but I think others would have problems with Sunday.
