With the fast-changing tech world and its effects on hunting, I am back in the market for a new GPS unit. I do quite a bit of solo scouting and hunting and like to have all the bases covered, plus, gives my wife comfort that I am traceable. Looking for some feedback on what you all are using, your confidence levels and finding a good one without breaking the bank.

It's OnX Hunt for me. Love the tracking feature and marking waypoints along the way. The offline maps are easy to save and access. I'll usually send a waypoint of where I park so at least someone knows where I started. It's pretty hard to get away from being found on the "Find My" app so if anyone needs to know where I'm at they can find me there. OnX Hunt is plenty of fun in the offseason too. Well with the $100/year for multi-state in my opinion. $30/yr for single state.

Thanks ERSF19, I use onx but having an SOS feature on a GPS unit gives me a bit of added security.

I like using onx simply because of the amount of options you have for map layers. I don't know how the other apps are and I've never tried a different one, but being able to see elevation change, terrain, boundaries, and everything else the app has is super helpful. Plus downloading the maps before you leave and being able to use them without service is also a huge bonus.
