Just send the check in now to lock in your spot at $450. If you owe $100 later because of less then 25 hunters, they'll collect it later. Might want to verify w/ Phil as things may have changed, but that's how we've handled it in the past.

Thanks, Mark... been on a non-stop run between the ranch and my real job.

Make the check for $450. When the time gets close, if it looks like we'll be shy of 25, you will have the option of bailing out or pitching in the extra $100. We usually make it just fine, but it's always good to be prepared.

Your 9 year old can't hunt big game, so he is out. :( See Speck's original post.

I can accomodate up to 50 hunters on this trip. It is NOT limited to JHO members, so yes, your friends and family are welcome. However, no non-hunting guests are permitted. That's a Tejon rule, not mine.

Hiline, Apps need to be turned in, paid and complete, no later than April 25.

As of now I have NO paid apps in my possession. I have approximately 35 app requests, and all requests have been answered. Plenty of time, of course, and lots of space is still available.

vehicle for Tejon

I am hoping to make the hunt in May but have a question about a vehicle for the Tejon area. I have an older Honda CRV with all wheel drive and an even older Toyota 4runner two wheel drive. Neither have offroad tires. Are either of these vehicles capable in this area?

As long as the roads stay dry you should be fine, but those roads can get very slick if the rain comes in.

I wouldnt worry about it if the roads are dry (like jp229) stated. The AWD honda will probably be the better choice. Once it gets wet, those roads become like snot. Just follow the weather closely. You might be able to jump in another JHO'ers rig if somebody has room. Just an idea...

Chances of rain in May are slim to none. Even if it rains, there are plenty of hunts that you can do from the bottom of the canyons staying on a paved road. You just would have to be in decent shape and plan on packing the hog out. This is your best chance to get a hog anyway - getting off the roads.

You may hunt with rifle, shotgun (slugs), handgun, or archery. No dogs are allowed. Over the past several years, members of our group have taken hogs with handguns, rifles, and bows. I don't believe we've had a muzzleloader or shotgun kill to date, but it's entirely do-able.

Hopefully I will be the first to take one with my Slug-gun :pig-laughing:
