A friend drew an Oryx tag for the hunt north of White Sands MR. I'm going down to help him. What is the country like in the area north of Bingham? Do the shooting distances tend to be on the long side or is there enough cover to work in close to the animals?
I've also read that the Oryx have a pretty thick hide in the chest area that might present problems for normal to light type deer bullets.
Your responses are appreciated!

Are you sure it's north of Bingham? Or is it just north of the White Sands Missile Base? I've only ever seen one Oryx north of Bingham. They do tend to populate the fenceline of the missile range and either Mendinboro's, Muncy's, or whoever's ranch just to the north of the White Sands.

I'm just going by what he has told me. I'm pretty sure he said on the north side of Hwy 380. He said that the hunt was for the area not including WSMR and it runs from April 1st 2002 until March 31st 2003. I think he is going down this weekend to look around.
Thanks

Hello Grail, sounds like your familiar with the area. I just got off the phone with my buddy. The hunt that he has is Statewide except for the WSMR.

If I were you I wouldn't spend too much time north of Bingham or HW380.
