I'm from Missouri and have been hunting near Swan Lake WR since I was 10.I am now 33.I don't get to go up there every year, but when I have the chance I go after it.My uncle taught me a thing or two about duck hunting over time, most of what he taught me in the pit or blind I couldn't share.
My current duck gun is a Benelli Nova.A terrific piece to have when the weather is extreme.

My dream hunt would also be in the flooded timber of Arkansas.

Born in Hawaii, raised in the OC...moved to N San Diego in '89.. my Dad bought me a browning
.22 lever action when I was 12, but until 84 all I ever did was plink with it . Started out dove hunting in
in 84 & tried duck hunting in 87 for the first time. Have never looked back. Hunt mostly in AZ ,
either at the CRIT, Havasu or Topock. Usually try Cibola at least once a year. Occasionally will hit
one of the WU clubs out at the sea. Have gone to Canada 2 of the last 3 years & am going again
this Sept. My favorite duck gun is a Beretta A303. Iam a member of DU, CWA & Delta & volunteer
whenever possible. Am currently introducing my 11 year old son to this great tradition,(addiction) and have even
gotten my father out a few times in the past several years. Glad to see the boards starting to
buzz again. Later. Rob Martin

Born and raised in So Cal. Was blissfully unaware of waterfowl, just chasing deer, pigs and rabbits was all I did. Then found friend in high school who invited me to hunt blind off the New River. They had tons of dekes, boat/motor, two Labs, and many decades of waterfowling experience. Snnet me to shore with a box of ammo right in a greenwing expressway. 2 teal and 25 empty hulls later I was hooked. 13 years and counting. Chased the birds from the Grasslands and Owns Valley south to the Salton Sea.

Now in OR wth my battered and bruised 835 Ultimag battling suicidal wigeon and sprig in early season, big mean greenheads late, and trying my best to rid the skies of giant Western and itty-bitty cacklers. Will be adding sea ducks this fall.

Still trying to hunt all of Oregon. So far that's been estuaries on the coast, along the mighty Columbia River, geese in the Willamette Valley, and a smorgasbourg of species in the sagebrush lakes and playas.

I am a bonifide Georgia boy and have been waterfowling for approximately 10 years. I have two children, both in Uncle Sam's Navy
<
and I am very proud of that fact. I am in the process of training my first lab for hunting, a fired up, wide open black female that is 14 months old and doing well in her training. My brother started me duck hunting in small ponds and potholes around home and things have escalated to the point I am hunting every Saturday morning and any other time I can squeeze in a hunt.( after all, I am a Reverend and have a full time job as well)
<
. I have a friend who has been a member of the Forum for a while and he speaks highly of everyone, so I figured to give it a try.

I am from Ashburn, Ga. and hunting can be tough in Georgia, but we sure have fun trying to bust a duck.

Welcome to JHP Rev. Put in a few extra prayers for a good season if you don't mind. I'm sure a lot of us will be doing the same.

Rev - I have hunted with some fine rev's in my day - all Lutheran boys....

Born in LA - lived in Van Nuys my whole life until moving to Pleasanton in northern CA in 1985. Love it up here. Married 29 years to my high school sweetheart, 2 kids - both adults now. My son hunts and fishes...and I love it! We hunt together all season long. He and his wife live about 2 hours away.

My first trip out duck hunting was Nov 18, 1961...and I started shooting in 1963 (when I was 10). So, this will be my 40th year.

Have 2 brothers that hunted at the beginning with our dad...and 1 of them still hunts now. He lives only 20 minutes away and we hunt all the time together.

Started off hunting WISTER...and have hunted just about every refuge in the state - all the way to Tule Lake.

My dad had a fatal heart attack while hunting Kern in Nov 1991 - when he was hunting with the Pastor from our family church in Van Nuys.

I love to hunt and hope to get back to Wister sometime this year to hunt with Matt. A lot of great memories from Wister....

I hunt the Grasslands and Sac valley refuges most of the time now. For those that have never hunted up here, you would love it. If you ever get a nice ressie card for one of our refuges and want some info on where to hunt, let me know (and take me along)...ha ha

Duckit,
Where are you going in Saskatchewan? I'll be there Oct. 15-19 near Reed Lake and a small town called Herbert. It's about 2 hours west of Regina. I went 2 years ago and it was awesome. Later in Oct. could have a lot fewer birds but the nice thing is you can hunt geese all day. You can only hunt them until noon before Oct. 21, after that they are open all day. It's an awesome place with great people. I hope you have a great time.

rembo,
I'll be expecting a detailed report when you get back. Incredible place isn't it?

Sorry I wasn't able to stop by last weekend. Ended up running around taking care of stuff before the kids started school on monday. I will definitely stop by this weekend and we can talk about Canada then.

Born and raised in Riverside Ca. It isn't really all white trash like they say it is. I have hunted pretty much my whole life. Mostly dove, deer, quail, and a few bear hunts. I got discouraged hunting deer in San Bernardino for 10 years without a shot. So I got an A31 tag. First hunt near Pepperdine. Took a shot at a 3x3 and put it 3" over his back. Great experience, but no deer. Haven't bought a deer tag until this year.

Three years ago my wife talks me into going duck hunting with her co-workers son. I always wanted to learn, but didn't know where to start. The season was already half over and I didn't want to spend the money just for one or two hunts. Luckily I have the best wife in the world. She talked me into spending the money and going. (A decesion she now regrets!!)

So I am at San Jacinto hunting D-1 in November. My buddy is a top notch sportsman and gives me all the first shots. I miss most of them of course, (not use to the steel shot). I finally get a hen spoony....I must of acted like I shot a banded sprig. Like all of you I was hooked for life! Now I don't even think about deer hunting. This will be my 3rd season. I hunt San Jacinto every Wed and Sat. I go to Wister about 2-3 times a year. I am looking forward to hunting Perris a lot this year too. I just bought a 12' duck boat. I have been working on it the past 3 weeks getting it ready for the season.

I use a Nova and no complaints so far. My dream hunt would be a Canadian hunt, geese in the AM and ducks in the PM.

I am looking forward to meeting some of you at SJ and Wister this year.

Hey socal duckie,
Where's Los Patos Bravos? I'm assuming it's amongst some of the clubs east of Brawley and Imperial. My best friend and a partner bought a club out that way last year.

I'm not looking to join, just curious.

I was born and raised in Riverside and I hunt Wister and San Jacinto. I hunt these areas every weekend of the season as I cant get enough of it. I usually take a trip or two up to Mendota and Kern and its awesome up there. My dream hunt would have to be to Canada and hunt mallards and Canadas in the fields. My favorite gun is my new Remington 870. Only a month and a half to go. Hope to see some of you guys out there.
