Got My First Antelope 9/15

Headed out to Wyoming and had a great time hunting with a group of 24 other disabled folks with a variety of disabilities on private ranches and off limits coal mining property. Even a couple of blind hunters. All of us were bowhunting with either compound or crossbows. It was the Physically Challenged Bow Hunters of America annual hunt out of Gillette, WY.

Congrats on a good lope. Tell us more details on how far the shot was, etc. Sounds like a good hunt for a lot of guys.

Thanks I shot him from 35 yards and he went about 35 yards. This was my first kill with a bow. I am new to hunting, I just got started about a year ago. In one pic you can see the Doghouse blind and the watering hole/creek. I want to go and do this again very badly. I am going to take a try at it here in NV but I have alot to figure out and I don't know if it is even worth my energy trying in the State of NV. I might just be better off heading to WY. They taste pretty good too.

I don't know how the blind hunters do it exactly. They of course have a person sighting in for them some how. The person stands behind them and helps with sighting in. I will have to find that out and get back to you on that.

Congrats Paul B! That's a beautiful looking animal. My brother is in a wheel chair in Missouri, but doesn't have the upper body strength or maneuverability with his hands/arms to use a bow. I've hunted with a crossbow for years, and just decided to give hunting with a compound bow a try this year.

I've been hunting for around 15 years, and in a wheelchair for over 27 years, but I just joined PCBA this year. I'm hoping to go on one of their hunts, someday.

Looks like a real HOOT!

It was a 35 yard shot. Antelope are a good animal to try and hunt. They are all over WY.

SHANE, How is the hunting in WA? Could a person hunt from a blind for a deer or whatever? Is there decent public land opportunities? I am trying to find places for myself to go hunting.

I don't know how big the horns were. I shot an 05 Bowtech Allegiance at 62lbs DW, 28" DL, I shot the lope at 35 yards and he went about 35 yards(My first bow kill). I used Carbon Express 350 Arrows and Slick Trick 100gr broadheads. They are a 4 blade broadhead. That is the exit wound you are seeing in the pics. I am going to try for some more Antelopes again, and If I can ever find a place to hunt Whitetail or Elk I will try for them also. If I can ever find a spot in California to bowhunt turkeys I will do that to. I live in Nevada and there are few opportunities to hunt for wheelchair users in this state, it sucks.
